Twins chat 2016/17!

We've actually bought the perfect prep as my friend said it was a complete life saver for her when doing her bottles ! I take it she was right? I bet with doing so many bottles you notice how good it is ?? X

I'm hoping I'll be able to breastfeed, but I'm worried I'm not going to have enough milk. I've signed up for a Tamba webinar about breastfeeding in a couple of weeks, hoping I will feel better after that.

I think I've mentioned before in this thread that I was set on c-section even before finding out it was twins, due to family history and, I have to admit, fear of vaginal birth. Now I'm just even more determined.

I used a kettle with my son, we were naughty and made them in advance it took over an hour of our day to wash, sterilise and make 5 feeds for the next day ... I vowed from the word twins I was not doing that, we take it upstairs at night and a feed is made at room temp in 2 mins, so no faffing with heating up or cooling down :) if mine broke I would be straight to the shop for another. I do make a couple in advance when I go out but as they take no time at all I do it before I leave and my changing bag has thermal pockets to keep them at that temp.

I also bought and recommend a 'clevascoop' I think it's called ... It's basically a scoop that measures out your formula in one go x

I have heard their webinars are fantastic ... I have never had an emergency section, but I have been told they just kind of go for it, my husband said he really enjoyed the experience of the planned section, it was special etc, with our son I had contractions for 30 hours that weren't labour as I wasn't 4cm, then the midwife broke my waters and 5 hours later it was over, he thought that was special but now says the enjoyment was slightly ruined from lack of sleep from the long non labour ... Even though it was one of his favourite moments in life. Even though I'm sore slightly still and currently have a fold of skin :( (I keep telling myself it was only a week ago though) I say go for section ... I couldn't think of anything worse than delivering one naturally and then being whizzed to theatre for the second x

My mother had me with a planned section and she says it's the most amazing experience she ever had. The births of my sister (emergency c-section) and my brother (long, long labour and they basically had to pull him out) were really traumatic for her but apparently having me was just calm and serene. So that story would more or less have convinced me alone. The fact that my niece is born with an emergency c-section (because guess what, a narrow pelvis is totally hereditary despite what the doctor told my sister) just added to it.
I'm quite relieved that you have the right to a section here in the UK. In Sweden you don't. It has to be approved by an obstetrician and they're trying to bring the numbers down, so a lot of women have to fight really hard for it.

They are good here to be fair, they won't argue anyway because it's twins, but expect them to tell you all about the risks etc which can feel as though they are trying to persuade otherwise x

Hello ladies.
Just been for a scan at 8w6d and we found out we're having twins. Scan says 10w but that is what they put in going by LMP. CRL showed my dates as spot on 9weeks tomorrow.

Still quite shocked to be honest. But as one half of a twin myself the chances were always there to start with

Oh my ... Congratulations :) you are in for double trouble but totally worth it :) x

Yes! Still needs to sink in though. Bit shocked, but not in a negative way or so.
Need to change my signature too lol

Congratulations Valentina! Are they non identical? What sort of twin are you?

They couldnt tell as both babies have their own sac and own placenta. I'm a non identical twin x

Mine are non identical, apparently it's just like being being pregnant twice - at the same time ... I must say I agree lol x

We had another look at prams at the weekend! Looked at the Baby Jogger again but you have to put the carrycots on top of the seats rather than replace them which looks a bit cumbersome, also looked at the Mountain buggy again but the carrycots for them look so narrow, like cocoons! So we still can’t decide! DH wondered if we could get the carrycots 2nd hand because they only get used for a few months, do they have mattresses in? Is it ok to put a baby in a 2nd hand carrycot? Not sure where we'd find any either!

Hey I'm not a twin mummy -just nosey! But I did have two close together and got the mountain buggy and it's a brilliant buggy! I have a friend who had one for her twins (with the carrycots) and they were in them for a good few months before going into the main pushchair. It's an absolute dream to push. Soooo easy one handed as well which you just don't expect for a double! Would definitely recommend!xx

How do they know for sure or is it a boy-girl combo?

They just assume they are from separate eggs, there is something like 20/30% chance that the egg could of split before implantation and then be identical but you would have to do a dna test after birth, mine are both boys x

We've had our mountain buggy delivered yay! We love it! It's so light & easy to push & love the carry cots, they are narrow but they will do them for a little while. X

We had an iCandy with our son and their carrycots are not that big, he only used the carrycot cot for 4 months give or take, Thomas and Robert are much smaller so I imagine you will easily get 5-6 months out of them X

That's what I was thinking that they'll be a little dinkier so will see them a little longer x

I think we will get a good 6 months out of ours unless they start sitting up beforehand ... Here's hoping :) x
