TTC with donor

I’m currently writing this with my legs up in the air!! We finally dtd and omg it was strange but amazing hahahaha!!! So fingers crossed now as we enter the 2ww!!

Oh god I’m going to be awful ss, I just know it! From every little tingle to every twinge I’ll be praying lol!!

Oh wow you lucky thing - I love Scotland and would love to get to see it more! Maybe next year we can take our little one travelling a bit!! But I do hope you don’t have to keep travelling up there for much longer!! I’d be so happy for you if you manage a bfp this month!!

Nope, I’ve not tracked my bbt and no idea about my LP either... if this little monkey doesn’t stick then I will do next month for sure!! Do you recommend doing both? I do track my cm though!

I can’t believe we are finally here after so long! Xx

Hahaha, legs up in the air, TTC is so glamorous, isn't it?! lol But still, finding a suitable donor takes long enough, so actually getting down to business feels AMAZING!!

I definitely recommend charting your BBT. Some people find it stressful, but I've found it invaluable as it's enabled me to pinpoint the day I actually ovulate, which I think is very important to know when using a donor. Some women tend to ovulate on the same day as the positive, while for others it will be the following day or the day after that. When tracking your bbt, you also know exactly how many dpo you are, which is an added bonus, especially if you become a crazy symptom spotter like me! lol. I hope you get your bfp this month and never have to start taking your bbt though!

I tested with a cheapie this morning and still negative :wall2: Hoping for a positive with the digital tonight! I tend to get my positives at night... I think the strip should have been darker by now though, so I'm starting to get worried my cycles are changing again and we'll have done it too early :clock: Hopefully not...

What has your experience been like with the Clearblue monitor so far?
In what way is it better than just the digital tests?

My word i looked so silly hahahaha!! But if it helps even the tiniest bit then up they’ll go!!

Ahh ok, like you say hopefully I won’t need to do it but if we do then I will start that!

Oh no, that’s a shame - I hope you got your positive last night or this morning and we’re able to dtd today still - I’m sure you’ll be fine but fingers crossed the timing was right for you anyway! Hope Scotland was lovely again and you had a good trip home!

So the monitor so far I think has been amazing! It really helped to track my cycle because I was struggling with the cheapies! We got our monitor secondhand as getting them new they’re expensive! The lady I got it from had been trying for a few months before she got it, used it once and fell pregnant! So it’s hardly been used and came with tests too!
I’ve not used the digi’s personally so I can’t compare, but the monitor is great!

Scotland was great. We went to the seaside to watch the waves. It was quite the show! They were nearly 8 feet tall! Beautiful. We mostly watched from the car (after I accidentally got soaked even though I was on the pavement!) and a couple of waves were so big they actually crashed on the car! Quite the experience lol.

As for TTC... Well... let's just say that short of a miracle, this month is a complete write-off! We ended up staying an extra night as I never got the surge at the weekend, so we dtd Monday morning instead and headed home. But here we are, Tuesday night, and I still haven't had my surge! I was thinking if I got it tonight and o'ed tomorrow, I'd still be in with a chance... But halas, I'm on CD19 and still waiting. I've been charting for 18 months and this has never happened to me. I always ovulate between CD15-18... But not this time... Im so confused and disappointed. But oh well, there's always next month! On the plus side, I was very glad to be reunited with my fur babies after nearly a week away! lol.

So how about you, how is the symptom spotting going so far?? lol.

Oh wow! I’d heard that they were pretty crazy up there! I’d have loved to see it though!!

Oh no! Perhaps you’ve had some dud tests? Still, they can last in your reproductive system for 5 days so you could still have a chance hun! It’s such a shame that you have to travel so far! Keep positive though - you never know you may just have missed it and the test didn’t pick it up! You’re not out until she arrives!!

Aww, we have a fur baby too called Barry, he’s a brutish blue shorthair and he’s a pain in the bum but we love him!!

Well, I’m noticing every tiny little niggle or bubble and feeling my boobs constantly to see if they are sore still haha!! Looking forward to the next week or so as I’m only 4dpo now so hopefully the next week will show me some more! Not sure how I’m going to cope though as already I want to test ha!!

Well on the plus side, I finally got a positive today! So yes, might still have a chance. I'd like to think so. Especially as our trips to Scotland may be about to get even more complicated...

Last night, shortly after I posted the message, we noticed that one of our cats, Kasie, looked VERY unwell.. To the point we felt we needed to take her to a vet in the middle of the night. Called them and we were told it wasn't an emergency and could wait till morning. To cut a long story short, it WAS an emergency and our poor baby has been admitted this morning and was diagnosed with diabetes and a life-threatening complication of diabetes. Vet says they're trying their best to save her but can't be sure she'll make it. If she does make it (which we obviously really hope she will), we'll have to give her an injection twice a day for the rest of her life, as well as doing a multitude of other things... So not quite sure at this stage what we'll do about carrying on with AI... But kitty has to come first, so hopefully she makes it and we'll find a working solution.

On the positive side, I'm now SOOO glad we didn't wait for me to get a positive test before we went, as we'd have been away right now when all I want to do is be here for her. Not that I can do much but you know, at least we caught the episode right away.
Sorry for bothering you with all this not so nice stuff, but I really needed to get it off my chest. It's been a very difficult day so far. Praying for some good news from the vet later in the day.

Other than Kasie we also have her sister Lexie, both tortoiseshell moggies with lovely personalities. We also have a westie called Poppy. A very clever but noisy little dog! Love them all so much.

The desire to test drives me CRAZY every cycle!! Always want to test asap... counting down the days, trying (unsuccessfully!) to wait till at least 11 / 12 dpo... and then convincing myself it's probably too early to test, when I'm faced with a bfn! lol I'd advise you to wait till at least 13 dpo, but hey, I can't blame you if you can't resist it either! lol

Whoop whoop!! Deffo not too late then! My fingers are crossed!!

Oh no, that’s awful poor little kitty!! How scary and worrying for you - I do hope she recovers well and manages to live a comfy happy life afterwards!

Yeah I can see how that may be an issue - do they go to someone when you go away? Could you teach them how to do the injections?

I am 5dpo today and my boobies are so sore lol! Hoping this is good news haha!! How are you feeling? X

We're picking Kasie up tonight! We're so lucky! Very happy :)

Up until now, as we didn't know there was an issue, we just put loads of dry food and water out for them and had a neighbour come in to check on them. We don't typically go away for as long as we did this time. A couple of nights is what we normally do. As for the dog, we either had a friend look after her or took her with us. I guess we could take Kasie with us in future, so long as it'd be safe for her to come, but then I wouldn't be happy leaving our other cat home alone... Can you imagine taking 3 pets to the hotel?! Nor can I!! lol So we'll have to find an option. Not many catteries are happy to take in a diabetic cat either...

Sore boobs at 5 dpo is a very good sign! Means high progesterone which is necessary for implantation :) Fingers crossed!! I rarely get that before 9 or 10 dpo.

I've had ewcm yesterday and this morning. I don't know if I've ovulated yet. I should know tomorrow when I take my BBT. Really hope I have! Other than that, no symptoms yet.

When are you planning on testing?

Aww that’s fantastic news! Hope the night went smoothly!!

Hmmmm that does sound a little tricky... I’m sure you’ll be able to sort something though! You don’t live in Wiltshire do you? I can offer to help if you do lol!

My boobs are still very sore... mainly just the side nearest my armpit but the whole thing hurts tbh! Still getting some cramping too.

Last night I was so uncomfortable down there I had to undo my trousers for my drive home from work lol! Just felt like there was too much pressure down there! So strange!

How was your bbt? Fingers crossed you have ovulated!

Hmmm I’m not too sure! I’m 6dpo today and I’d like to get at least this weekend out of the way first... I had said no sooner than the 1st but I’ll probably crack on Monday hahahahaha xx

Hi Miss Cindy,
Our cat was diagnosed with diabetes today. We will have to do the injections too. There's a diabetes specialist at our vets who apparently can reduce insulin dependency and in a few cases has cured it. I really hope your cat picks up...it must be soo stressful. xx

7dpo and have some brown spotting this morning. Not unusual for me because I do get that before my period is due! But I do still have cramps which I don’t usually get until the day of af so I’m still hopeful! Not out until the witch arrives fully!

Hi Girls,

Sorry I haven't been on this past week. Unfortunately things didn't go as expected with Kasie. The vet decided to keep her in after all, they realised it wasn't diabetes as they previously had thought, and she passed away on Sunday :(. I'm absolutely heart broken so TTC hasn't been on my mind at all... I'd be gobsmacked if it worked this cycle, even if timing had been great, with all the stress and heartache we've experienced. I haven't bothered taking my BBT either...Nor do I think I'll test this time, I'll just see if af turns up or not. But I fully expect her to.

CoveyClover, have you tested yet?

Ohh MissCindy I’m so so sorry to hear this - you poor things you must be devastated!! Sending you virtual hugs!!

I did test a few days ago but was a bfn, af is due tomorrow so will probably test again in the morning unless she comes!!

So sorry sweetie xxx

The witch came right on time this morning so I’m out! Boooooo!!

Sorry sweet :-(. (((Hugs)))) are you meeting with your donor after af? Keep thinking positive at least this month you know what to expect with it all fx this is your month xx
Sorry about your cat miss cindy, it's heartbreaking when you lose a pet I was beyond devastated every time I've lost one of my dogs and a few of my friends don't get it they just say it's only a dog had to stop myself punching them in face, they are family our fur babies it's not fair they are only on this earth a few years xx

Thanks Holli! Yes, we will be meeting up with him again for this next cycle! Fingers crossed this time it sticks!

Holli: Yes I completely agree with you. Some people get it, others don't. In my opinion, if you don't get at least a bit upset, chances are you shouldn't have had pets in the first place. They're definitely family to me, even more so as I'm originally from France and have no 'human' family around, here in England...

CoveyClover: As expected, af came, albeit later than usual since ovulation was delayed. I'm now CD3, but I can't try again until January! We've had a lot of unexpected expenses this month and we still have to work out what we'll do with our other cat Lexie when we next go to Scotland, so we've decided it's best to leave it this month. I'm then off to France in December to spend Christmas with my family... Although I know I'll enjoy my time away, knowing I can't try again for over 2 months is very frustrating! That said, I'll still be around to cheer you on, hoping you get your BFP! :) How are you getting on? Do you know when you're trying again?

Hey sweetie, hope you’re ok?

Aww thats such a shame, I’m really sorry Hun! We have literally just dtd so here’s to the 2ww lol! Hopefully this time around I can just chill out and go with it.... but knowing me I’ll be testing in 6 days time hahaha!! Perhaps it’s a good thing that you’re taking a little break... then you can re-evaluate and come back stronger!! Don’t get yourself too disheartened though as I’m sure these months will fly by especially with all of your plans!

I’ll keep you updated and sending lots of love to you xxx

Oh yes I'm really looking forward to going away for a bit. I'll get to spoil my nieces whom I absolutely adore, I'll also get to spend lots of quality time with my sisters as they're both off work over Christmas (one of them is expecting a little boy, my first nephew! yay! :blue: ) it will be a lot of fun and time will definitely fly by!

You must be about 5 dpo now. Not long to wait till you can test!!
Any symptoms yet? Have you managed to be a bit more "chilled out" so far this tww? lol
