Im just wondering when everyones LO's had their first injections?

Ashtyn has his on monday but he will only just be 8 weeks!!!! There also seems to be alot, it says 1st DIP, TET, WHOOP COUGH, 1st POLIO, 1st MEN C, and 1st Hib thats 6..........is this normal?

Also how did all your babies get on.....did it make them ill and if so what did you give them?

yep dior had hers at 8weeks but its just one jab, just have some calpol ready dior had a temperature after and had what seemed like a cold for 2days

they have the 1st lot at 2 months/8 weeks, then again at 2 months and 3 months of age. there are two injections, one in each thigh. be warned the second one stings like hell apparently and makes them REALLY scream (ruben certainly did) which is why they tend to give that one last. (not to say they don't scream for the 1st one too....)

it was awful watching ruben go from being happy and babbling away to screaming like i've never heard before in the space of 2 seconds... he was ok after a few seconds and some cuddles though, and although i had calpol at the ready i didn't need to use it. he seemed to have no reaction to them whatsoever thankfully!

Seren had hers at 8 weeks, she had 2, one in each thigh. She was ok, a bit grizzly after but soon bounced back x

oh.. dionne, i've just seen that dior only had one injection - it must vary with the area then... i know they used to give one injection and one oral vaccination here too but that changed it last year so the second one is injected too. did dior have the oral drops too or? maybe it varies from trust to trust within the NHS what they do???

The second injection is the meningitis one, not sure when that was introduced but think it was quite recently??

nope sorry u have just jogged my memory yep she she had one in each leg, sorry i forgot got mixed up cause Dior only had her mmr last week and that was 1 jab...

dior was very grizzely after her 8week jabs thou, she was all bunged up and wasnt her happy self i just gave her lots of medised and got her to sleep through it

Thanks girlies, that has put my mind at rest........for some reason I thought it was 3 months (can I still blame pregnancy brain?)

Kacy has just her last lot injections everytime she had one in each leg, give your little one some calpol just before just half, but you can get calpol from 2 months now, kacy was 9 weeks old when she had her first lot then 4 weeks after that, i had to change her last one it was suppose to be last week but she wasn't well she had a cold but she had them yesterday.

Charlie had her's last week, she screamed for about 5 mins, but thankfully she had no side effects. OH however was very traumatised, bless him!

Hiya Faye,
Rubys due her last lot in a couple of weeks and Ive hated taking her each time. Bless her she screams so loudly and then has that uncontrollable cry afterwards. Then we sit in the waiting room for five minutes and shes all smiles again!!!! Mind you I dont fancy needles being jabbed into my thighs, its bad enough having blood tests, I hate needles.

Heidi had hers today and she is 9 weeks old tommorow

It was horrible - had to get my brother to hold her while they did it (I just couldnt)

Thta's horrible, Lisa!!!
maheen had her yesterday as well, and I did not have to hold her! They have a bed (like at the GP's) and I just put Maheen there and held her hands, did not even look at the needles, could not bare that!

She has screamed when they did both injections, and was not herself for 2 or 3 hours after. but had no fever and drunk her milk ok (except one feed she only took 100ml). She also fell asleep much earlier last night and slept ok as well. (I was so worried it would throw her good sleeping out of the window!!!)
She is completely fine now, does not seem sore! bless her! I am so proud of her!
I hated it!

How is Heidi?
Take care,
mel xx

Hi mel

Youve probably already seen the post but Heidi is fine now - she was ok the same day after her injections, but the next day she was definatley different - seemed like she was in pain / uncomfortable, so I eventually gave her calpol in the evening - she then slept through !!!!!!
