Hi all - in serious need of some honest unbiased opinions!!
Hubby and I have been bringing up the same name for months, which we both love, but he thinks it'll be too cheesey because of it's meaning.
Cadence - meaning "Flowing Rhythm" and the dictionary definition says "the rhythm and movement of tone in sound".
The dilemma is that he's a musician/music teacher and I'm seriously into music too, have been singing with different bands on and off since I was at school.
So does the link make it cheesey? Or is he just being daft? I can kind of see where he might be coming from, but surely being as the word has meaning to both of us, it should make it an even better name choice?!
Help!

I dont think its cheesy lol x

I love it, great name and the link makes it so much more special

That's what I thought, but he's determined it's just cheesey!
I like it even more because there are so many great variations, without ending up with a majorly popular nickname!!

I don't think it's cheesy. Tbh most people will just hear a nice name and not have a clue what it means. The meaning is probably just for you guys. Xxx

On my iPhone - so cant see tickers :(

That's what I keep trying to tell him, but being as a lot of our friends are musical too, he's concerned they'd see it as cheesey! I'm really set on it and think it would be perfect for her, even in dreams her name's Cadence! lol

So the next battle is that we've already settled on her middle name - Henrietta - after my Gran. Do we think Cadence Henrietta works? I know her middle name won't be used all the time and I think it's fine, but he says it doesn't sound right!

Not cheesy.
My daughter has swimming lessons with a little girl called Cadence. I was sort of 'eh?!' at first, but it really grew on me and I now really like it. It's pretty.
I'm not a fan of 'differnet/unusual' names, but I don't think Cadence is 'out there' if you know what I mean. It is uncommon, which is a positive, imo.
I like the musical connection. And it does work with your Gran's name too. Go for it!

It's great, not cheesey, most people
Don't know what names mean Anyway :)

I think its a lovely name and the fact of its meaning means its perfect for you two into music!!

So hubby has put his foot down and refuses point blank to accept Cadence...even though it was him that picked it out to start with and it took a while to grow on me! So we're almost back to square one! We had such a huge list of girls names to start with, but slowly it's been worked down to 2, which neither of us like enough for one reason or another! It's really starting to get difficult!
We're left with Charis... which we both like but aren't sure of and Libby...which is nice, but worried about what sort of nicknames she'll end up with and the fact it comes from Elizabeth, will people keep calling her Elizabeth thinking Libby is just a nickname?!
Argh! It's so difficult being left to pick a name for someone that they'll be stuck with forever!!

My friends daughter is Libby and nobody ever calls her Elizabeth, so I wouldnt worry x

My step daughter is Libby too! Nobody calls her anything else but she likes to tell people she was named after queen Elizabeth!! Haha, she wasn't, she just likes to think of herself as the queen :) I think it's a lovely name.

Same, I like Libby!! Its lovely and girly too :) I like Libbie also xx

It seems Libby is a rather popular name! Argh!! We totally ruled it out last night while we were going through another internet list of of girls names. We picked out a whole new list and have started again!! Lol hopefully we'll get somewhere this time without anybody (family!) ruining names for us!
Thanks for all your help ladies!!

Ok so as much as Libby was really starting to sink in, we've hit a large bump in the road...Kate & William's baby is due just after us and we have the whole Elizabeth thing to contend with again! Especially as Queen Elizabeth was known as Lillibet as a child, it worries me that if they decide to go for the modern approach of an already royal name, we're going to end up with that, so now we're thinking steer clear of anything that be royal related!! Argh - so frustrating after starting to get used to it & we already have a track record of other people getting in with our names first!!
So we're down to Charis Henrietta OR Alby Henrietta...any opinions?

Lovely name and if anything i think the meaning makes ur more meaingful and personal to you both!!! :) xx

People will forget about the royal birth after a while, so I wouldnt worry x
