Noticed trousers age 2-3 which used to fit were falling down. It's summer this week so put him in shorts from last year. Nursery says they'd had to tie them in a funny way as they were too big. These shorts were aged 1.5-2. Today I put him in shorts age 12-18 months. There was still a little gap around the tummy but they stayed up.

This evening he came home in nursery spare clothes as his had got wet/dirty. The long trousers were staying up (age 18-24 months) and I thought how cute he looked in the short sleeved, button up shirt. When I took it off I saw it is for 3-6 months old from mothercare!

He is nearly 29 months old.

He doesn't look skinny, just slim, but I'm a bit worried.

Anyone else got or had slim children?

Yes my son is a skinny tin ribs! His swim pants are for age 3-4... he's 8. I've noticed a lot of clothes are now sized for the more stereotypical "larger" children. I find when buying him trousers we have to uo for the ones with the adjustable waist. I'm not the only parent in this situation in his class a lot if the kids that look in my opinion "normal" have issyes with clothes fitting. It also varies by shop too. Primark he's generally a good few years younger teach is only 1 or 2 years out. I had one top aged 18months which would have drowned any 18 month old he wasn't in it until at least 3!

My 6 yo is still on the charts as he has always been - tall and slender, just like his Papa. DS is wearing 2T shorts. For long pants, adjustable waist is the only way to go.

Almost 3 yo DD is equally slim, but not quite as tall yet. We're back in 6-9m tops and she's in 12m shorts, 18m pants some 2T.

I feel like the sizes stay as if the kid is still a barely mobile baby and keep sizing up. Because my duo were a bit chunkier looking then. But, get them moving and back down in sizes we go.

I'm half tempted to try sewing some of their clothes myself.

My daughter is exactly the same. She's 27 months and only just gone into 18-24 month clothIng which hangs off her! She came home from nursery in a borrowed pair of 6-9 month leggings the other day & they fit her perfectly. Last weigh in at the doctors 2 months ago she was 24lb. Doctors aren't worried as she's very very active. She's on the go from the minute she wakes up to the minute she goes to bed!

My little girl is 2 and wears 12-18m clothing. She's as tall as her peers but so much lighter. I don't worry as she's always running around outside and eats well. She loves fruit and veg but doesn't eat much in the way of carbs which is why I think she doesn't gain much weight but she still eats lots. If you're worried see your hv but you know your child.

My daughter is 3.5 years and she still wears a pair of shorts ages 6-9 months and there's still plenty of room! She is slim and a small build but I'm not worried as she's still gaining weight and HV said she's in proportion x

Yes my boys are slim, the waists of trousers are always falling off them but I have to get either the same age or bigger as their legs are so long
