I was informed and advised that as long as tinned fruit is in its OWN juice, this is fine to give to baby.

However, how do you prepare it and then store it? Does it need "preparing"? Or can I just blitz it and then freeze it?

Really want to start doing my own fruits for Layla rather than the jars...

Thanks.... x

i was wondering about this too!!! i heard that in its own juice is fine. as for freezing im not sure?. ive always just blitzed it in the blender, and kept in the fridge max 2 days in a tuppaware, added it to yoghurt or gave on its own! interested to seee what the other ladies say tho!

yeah I don't see it can do any harm to leave it in the fridge just no longer than 48 hours seems to be the norm for jars anyway. I tend to do "batches" of veg for Layla at the moment. We buy it, I cook and blitz it pretty much straight away. Any one else noticed how quickly fresh fruit and veg goes off at the moment??? Oh, and dont get me started on the price of it all haha! Mental! xx

ive noticed that too, the amount of veg ive thrown away its ridiculous!!! and yes....things are soooo expensive!!! LO eats better than we do!!!! the fish i got him yesterday was almost £4!!!!

I get Odhrán I think it's Dole pots, and they are sealed and I just keep them in the fridge, they are 4 for £1 in Poundland and 3 for £1 in asda :) You could stock up on these and blitz when needed, they keep for ages x

If your going to do batches for the ice cube trays anyway , you might just want to buy the fresh fruit.

I just peel then and then dice it up into smallish chunks , then put in a small non stick saucepan with a splash of water and stir , only takes 5 mins until soft for apple and pears etc and then puree with hand blender. I brought a mango and just scooped it all out with my hands straight into the blender container for blitzing. You get loads. I add to cubes when reheating of less sweet meals eg chick casserole and apple or mango. Also add a cube to powdered baby porridge to make it fruity. Blueberry , rasberry (push through a fine sieve tho to get pips out of rasberrys)
