The Pill

Hey!

So we met our health visitor today and she asked about contraception so I said i'm going straight back on the pill when my 1st period arrives and she said I could start taking it from today?!!

She said as long as I start taking it before Jack's 3 weeks old then i'm covered for when i'm brave enough to DTD!!

Everyone else has said I can start taking it from 8 weeks. I told her I still have 7 cycles worth from before we started TTC as i'd just been given a years prescription before we decided to TTC and she said "oh good start taking it from tomorrow then".

Has anyone elses HV told them this? I don't know whether to trust her or not because I DO NOT want to get pregnant again for at least 18 months!! We have know plans to DTD yet because of my stitches etc, we were just going to wait the 8 weeks until I was back on the pill or if we couldn't wait then my OH is in charge of safety lol so I guess if I do start tomorrow i'll be well covered by 8 weeks?

Can you tell i'm a tad confused?!

A tad different but I had the coil fitted 5 weeks after having charley and when i said to my doctor, haven't I got to have a period 1st, he said no.
If your not happy then wait until you have a period x x

Cheers hun. Don't get me wrong I was chuffed when she said I could go back on it from tomorrow because I know my OH can't wait 8 weeks and I doubt I will after being practically a nun for the last 9 months lol. It's just that everyone else has said 8 weeks.

Hmm i'll have a chat with OH and have a think about it over night and decide in the morning. x

My HV told me the same thing and i found it hard to believe too! Although im still breastfeeding so i cant take the same pill i used to x

I've just had my 6 week check and the doctor said that I can start taking the pill from today because I've not had sex yet, but if I had had sex I would have to wait until I got my first period to make sure I'm not pregnant again! I assume thats why you were told you could start the pill that early if you'd not already DTD!!

You should make sure you use protection as well for the first 7 days or that what I was told, then after that you should be covered if you start right away

Well I took 6 days worth of the pill and then went into hospital for 2 days. The 1st night I was in hospital my 1st AF after Jack started! It was very very heavy which was awful considering I was in hospital away from Jack and in alot of pain with my gall stones etc. My AF stopped today so we bought condoms to use until my next AF and then i'll start the pill properly. Even if I started taking it now it wouldn't work because i'm on so many tablets! x

Typical that your AF started just when you didn't want it to!! (I was flooding on my wedding day!).
Well at least you know right where you stand now, and are ready for action either way, when you feel better.

I was told to start taking the pill asap too. Before we'd started DTD again. My MW told me that at the 6 weeks checks some of the ladies are pg again
