The Nails Thread

That's what I found for myself, it seemed to last longer and to be honest your toes are completely different, nail varnish stay on mine for weeks whereas on my fingernails it chips after a day xx

Yes, i guess we dont do that much with our feet, esp all hand washing with LOs. I have given up on.nail varnish on my hands, just manicure as i have baby #2 on the way but my toes have to be done otherwise i dont feel human!
But bloody hell how fast is nail growth during pregnancy!

Tapatalking so cant see signatures

Nail growth so fast!! Mine has stayed the same since giving birth too!! Yeah I hate unpolished toenails yuck!! Xx

Shellac has a lot of science behind it, google if you want to know all that but it's been made so it doesn't damage your nails, gels and acrylics dehydrate the nail plate so your fighting a losing battle if u ever want your own natural nails but they are fine if you don't just make sure you use a good cuticle oil! Shellac has been made for natural nails, I can't speak for gelish because I've never had it as in my salon we use shellac, 80% of my business is shellac, I have clients that have never had their own nails long and beautiful but have now!!! Remember try different salons because a lot of the problems are with the therapist and not the product!!! X

Thank you twinkles I think that might be the best option for my natural nails its took me awhile to get them in this condition and I'd like to keep them that way lol just have to find a salon now as the one I went to dont do shellac :(

Is west Wales too far?!?!

Shellac is massive so lots of salons do it, even in debenhams nail bars x

Angela check out www.loveshellac.com you will be able to find the nearest person to you who does shellac as there are lots of fake ones too.

I can't speak for gelish as I've never used it but its not the same as shellac as its a gel and shellac is a power polish. The website tells you a bit about shellac.

With regards to acrylic, if done properly by a fully trained reputable salon who uses safe and approved products, acrylic will not damage your nails. A lot of the time it's because your nail plate has been filled too much or the wrong size tips are used (or even products that shouldn't be used on nails) but also a lot of clients pick it off (been known to do it myself, I love a good pick) and this is what ruins your nails xx

Thank you very much for the link I shall have a look, I've managed to grow my own nails long, so I thought I'd Treat myself for once  plus all these gorgeous nails in this thread made me jealous lol as I had never had a manicure before

I was on YouTube and saw the water marble nail art it looks like fun :) might give it a go

Look for gelish also..very similar to shellac, i find it lasts better on me.

ooooh can i join in. Im a nail technician, trained with Calgel.

Heres mine -had a baby free night and decided to dig out my acrylic and set to. I usually pay someone to do them as its easier. Lazy mare!! ;-) do excuse the state of my cuticles. New files and my skin is cut to ribbons. Went to bed with bio oil on and gloves! Back to normal today. Xx

Ladies, I really fancy a treat and want my nails done, I was thinking acrylics but they have ruined my nails in the past and made them like paper afterwards. What are gel nails? I want a simple french tip look but not on my natural nails cos they are too short. x
