Do you wear one? I started wearing mine nearly 2 weeks ago, mainly because I have started to feel really sick when I am standing up on a hot busy tube. It helps a lot to sit down when the tube is packed like that. But only once in the last two weeks has someone offered me there seat. I can't believe how rude people can be. They see the badge and then just look down the rest of the journey so they don't have to stand for you. There lucky I don't end up being sick on them, because that's how sick I feel in the tubes at the mo!:x

One of Hubby's friends was telling me about them the other day, I thought he was joking at first!

Last Friday myself, Hubby and my mum needed to go into central to sort some things out and we decided rather than driving the tube would be easier.... Well after walking up and down stairs I was so out of breath and just needed to sit down.... NOBODY offered me a seat and my bump is noticable.... There were two 16/18 year old boys sitting in the priority seating and my mum very polity asked if one of them would let me sit down.... one of the boys replied 'How is it my problem if that girl is pregnant, it aint my kid'..... Needless to say I think my husband would have punched him if it wasn't for me holding him back.... An elderly gentleman who was with his wife offered me a seat and I felt so guilty for taking it but by this point I was not feeling great and needed to sit down.

Sorry for rambling but long story short I would wear it hun, I can not believe that people have no manners or basic kindness. I hope as your pregnancy progresses people have more compassion.

xx

Unfortunately that's people of today, I've been asked to give up my seat on the train to accomodate someone and I turned around and said NO,I was knackered from work and my bump is very visible.People are just plain rude,I've also had elderly people ask me to move off the bus seat when there have been others

I only go two stops so it's not worth me having a badge at any stage, I sit down all day anyway!!

I always offer my seat the pregnant women but not sure how I feel about women using badges when they are in early stages? I mean OP has a valid reason for needing a seat but I don't - I feel dandy!!

OMG! I can't believe those kids said that to you!? I would be horrified if I heard kids talking like that. I would have to hold my husband back also if someone spoke like that. And the poor eldery man, someone should have then stood up for him also.

Hard for me because you can't see the bumb under my big winter coat as it's so small. But I wear the badge because I feel sick on the tube.

I guess people just don't care, so sad.

What are you serious? I can't believe people would ask you to move when you are clearly pregnant and already sitting down. There are plenty of other people that should be kind enough to move.:wall2:

Early stages is when pregnant people are likely to need them as well as 3rd trimester. I have only just started feeling really sick on the hot tubes and light headed some days I have been worried I was going to faint it was so bad. SO I don't think there is anything wrong with wearing a badge early if you need it! Not that people seem to care.

I never knew these badges existed. But I was so ill in early stages that I couldn't leave the house let alone use public transport.

But I've seen women with huge bumps not getting offered seats on public transport, so I don't think people will pay much attention to a badge tbh x

As I say you have a valid reason but I have felt fine so I personally wouldn't expect someone to give up their seat for me! Although when I get a bit bigger I am sure I'll be grateful for anyone that is willing to offer their seat LOL!

You order the badges on TFL website. Strange you haven't seen them I see a few people wearing them every day. You're right I don't think it will back a difference. x

Omg! I have never heard of these badges either!!! Suppose it's a good idea but I think I would feel a bit silly wearing one, I would prob just ask someone if they would mind letting me sit if I really needed to, especially as it sounds as though they don't really work anyway, some people are so rude, they just need telling or asking outright!!! Glad I can walk to work, I don't envy you girls on the tube! X

OH and I went into London recently for a theatre trip that we only just made in time due to transport delays and we had to pretty much run to the tube and I was just not up for running with nasty stretching pains and some lovely woman heard my OH making sure I was ok and hoping we hadn't done anything horrific to the baby and offered me her seat. I was surprised as I'm not showing or anything and it was just a lovely gesture and a massive relief to get to sit down!
Occasionally you get a good samaritan on the tube but sadly they're far and few between. Glad I don't have to use it regularly. I applaud you ladies who are on public transport every day!

I know I don't like wearing it. I take it off once I am out of the tube. :)

I have to admit I wouldnt wear one and if im absolutely honest I dont think i would take notice of someone wearing one either. Theres a lot to be said for talking to people and asking politely!

I have to say I agree with happyred. I don't see how being pregnant entitles people to a seat - if you feel sick/dizzy/like shit whether it's pregnancy related or not then fine, ask and it's a perfectly reasonable request and I would give my seat up in a second. But just because I am pregnant I would be rude to expect someone to jump up out of their seat for this fact alone. I have refused to take a seat when offered so many times as I feel fine and will always offer my seat to others without needing to be asked if I feel it is just, i.e. a little old man who can barely walk with a walking stick etc....

See I would never wait for an elderly or pregnant person to ask me if the could have my seat. I would always stand up for them straight away I would not need to be asked. But that's just me x

Totally agree if you don't feel like you need a seat then don't take it. But if I ever see someone eldery or pregnant I stand up for them straight away, I don't need to be asked. I just think it's the polite thing to do. Whether they accept the seat is up to them.
Badges are also good in tubes because I have noticed it stops people pushing up against you so much and shoving past you. So that is nice. I wouldn't wear a badge out of the tube or when it's not rush hour traffic.

I suppose that is a bonus! That is one of the most annoying things when people barge into you!!!

I agree if you feel fine then you can probably stand for a while but my consultant has warned me about the risks of standing for long periods of time when pregnant.... Dizzyness, swelling and worst case blood clots....

Without fail I stand up if I see someone elderly or pregnant as this is how I have been brought up.

I can't believe it either.... the fact is my mum was so polite to them and they were so rude!! The elderly man was lovely and his wife was too, they could see I was a little out of puff because of all the stairs andsaid they only had a few more stops to go.

I was so hot I was stripped down to my vest, so my bump was in full view! xx
