Symptom spotters anonymous lol

Hey ladies, I haven't been in here in a while. I'm excited to say I have a consult with a gyno for infertility testing. I have no clue what it will involve but it always lifts my spirits to feel like I'm doing something to help this process along. How are you all getting on?

Hey salley, day 3 and day 21 bloods, ultrasound and HSG and semen analysis for your OH x
That's what I had tested.
Start 3rd cycle of clomid tonight

How is everyone?
I'm gonna have a few beers and a takeaway tonight x

I'm really struggling, can I have your opinion please ladies. I suffer with severe stress and bit of depression. Was put on escitalopram 12 days ago but I'm really struggling with the insomnia side effect, I struggle to sleep anyway but this has made it much worse, do you think I should persevere or give up ? I'm all set to stop taking it as feel worse than before xx

Salley glad things are moving in three right direction for you!!

Fx this is your cycle hayley!

Feeling very nauseous this evening, but have a cold sometimes that makes my belly turn lol. Throat hurts so bad!! Xx

Feeling rubbish, full up with a cold and boobs are so sore.. 6 days til testing....can I just hibernate until then, hate waiting

Lil, why don't you give the doctor a ring, maybe they are side effects that will disappear after a time on the tablets. I wouldn't just stop them. Maybe a change to something that doesn't cause insomnia. Have you tried taking maca root, it's really good.

Started clomid last night. Had a bad night of sweats and hot flushes. It's like freezing here and I'm boiling!
Period disappeared within 36 hours again.

Peanut, I hope this is my cycle. Third time lucky xxxxx

Hayley I can't get to speak to my Dr until January 12th. I've cut the tablet down to half today. As well as insomnia it has completely stopped my sex drive, there's no feeling at all and no orgasm, bloody hell I'm coming right off it lol.

Yes I tried Maca, that affected my sleep badly too so threw the Maca away. There are other herbal remedies for stress, I see Boots do one so I will go down the natural route. xx

Hi ladies,

Hope you're all having a good festive period. My best friend is coming to stay with me for a few days tomorrow, I can't wait. Hoping she brightens my spirits a bit!

Lil, sorry you're feeling so crap. I have insomnia too and it kills me at times! I was on mirtrazipine for years and it made such a difference with my sleeping. It's not supported in pregnancy though so I came off it. I'd get back to your GP asap and see if there's another option that helps with sleeping too!

Have any of you ever taken PABA? It's supposed to be very good for fertility, especially if taken alongside clomid - made me think of you Hayley! I've ordered it on Amazon so going to give it a try. Got our first appointment for ivf next month (when I'll be cd27) so giving this month a good shot xx

Sorry to jump in on this thread ladies, but just reading what you were saying about your antidepressant Lil. It must be really frustrating that you feel it's not yet helping, but you probably will feel bit worse in the first 2 weeks. However if you persevere for another few weeks, you should start to feel the benefits (can be a bit sooner though), and that should start to build. If you're still struggling with sleep though, it might be an idea to talk to your GP about trying a different one to take at night (mirtazapine like Mrs S mentioned), to help with sleep. Hope you're feeling the positive effects soon.

Bless you Mrs S thankyou for your reply and DocL, I took mirtazepine for 4yrs around 7yrs ago, it worked like a dream for my insomnia, but after 4yrs it stopped working. I did try it again recently, unfortunately it had no effect on my sleep and I became photo sensitive to it. The trouble is you are so limited when ttc, the only one I was told is safe is Prozac and that was awful, felt constantly like I had drank 50 cups of strong coffee or red bull. These ones I'm on are no good when ttc so I'm not sure why the Dr gave them to me. It is very frustrating as I really don't know what to do for the best. xx

I totally feel you hun. I'm struggling enormously with depression and insomnia at the moment but feel too limited with what I can go on. I've been on nothing for 2 years though so going to keep powering through as best as I can! The doctor was going to put me on citalopram though, have you given that a try? Xx

Morning girls,

Hope you are all ok. Hope things get better soon xxxxx
I've had terrible night sweats, awake because I'm either soaking, cold or hot.
I go back to work today too x

Yes I've tried citalopram, it gave me constant facial flushing so had to stop it. It's actually the mirror image of escitalopram. I've stopped them completely today as my sleep is now completely non existent.

I've struggled with insomnia and depression since having glandular fever in my mid 20s. I never recovered from it as didn't rest and was working long hours. Never had a problem sleeping before that. I average 2-4hrs sleep usually but these antidepressants have made me have literally zero, wide awake all night. I'm totally shattered. xx

Aw sorry Lil, sounds like you've had a really hard time trying to find an antidepressant that works for you, all the while having to consider how safe it is when TTC. And barely sleeping must make everything seem worse..

Have you tried Venlafaxine? It is similar to Prozac but works in a slightly different way. My husband suffered terribly after having glandular fever in his early twenties, with anxiety and depression, and didn't get on with any of the SSRIs (eg prozac). But he found Venlafaxine amazing. I appreciate its never one size fits all though.. And the evidence base for its use in pregnancy is a bit mixed, but not a definite no-no though.
I wish you lots of luck.x

Lillith, have you tried sertraline? I was told fluoxetine and sertraline were the safest when ttc and in pregnancy. I was on fluoxetine (prozac) and that did give me headaches and insomnia but it got better after 2 weeks. I don't remember any side effects with the sertraline. I would keep going, it's likely the side effects will ease up soon.

Sorry for jumping in, I pop in from time to time to see how people are getting on xx

Hi Lisey, yes I've tried sertraline, that kept me up all night too. I've tried nearly all of them. I'm going cold turkey and coming off the escitalopram. I don't think any are suited to me as they make my insomnia worse except for mirtazepine that I can't take due to photosensitivity. xx

Miss not talking to you girls xxxx

I'm still here lurking Hayley, how are you ?, think I'm cd7 today. My OH should just get here on positive opk day cd 13 this month. I'm taking pregnacare conception to try to delay ovulation a day or 2. xx
