Just wondering to the mummys who had no pain relief when you were stitched up afterwards did you just do it with out anything then too? Sorry another weird question!

I think it all depends upon the tear. I know they can inject local anaesthetic to numb the area. Hope that helps.

i sucked on a little bit of gas and air- I atually liked it then (I'd refused it in labour because by the time it was offered I was 6cm and couldn't be bothered to breathe in and out of it properly! :rotfl: )

Makes you fell like you are drunk- I asked the woman if she minded sewing up my fanny.... :rotfl:

i had an injection of local anesthetic- which i hardly felt after labour
and was allowed gas n air- its not bad at all i think you are just so relieved the birth is over..i didn't even notice the injection in my bum to make the placenta come!!

OK, I HAVE to be honest here and say that I found it incredibly sore being stitched! I sucked on gas and air whilst I was stitched up like it was going out of fashion. Once it was all done it felt ok though. I remember that more than giving birth!

even though I'd had an epidural I could still feel a lot of the pain. When it came to stitching me up she told me to take a good few puffs on the gas and air then stuck the local anesthetic needle in and I went ARRGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!  (it frickin hurt!) but then i didnt feel a thing when she was actually putting the stitches in :D

I had a local and felt the needle of that being stuck in a few places down there. I also had a bit of gas and air during the injecting. Didn't really help much with me not feeling the needle

And toward the end of the stitching I started to feel the needle going through. Bit painful but not overly so. I did say to the MW I could feel the needle thread and pull and she apologised. I didn't want to have any more local though as it was nearly done.

I was the same!

the woman who stitched me up said she wouldnt do it without an injection. I was so off my head i didnt care! I can remember watching....id never be able to do that when im in "the real world" id pass out i hate needles!! I think im glad i had an injection i think id had enough of pain by then! the tugging sensation was a bit freaky now come to think of it...

I gave birth with just gas and air but got a third degree tear and had was cut so ended up having a full on spinal block and had to go to theatre to be stitched up :wall: :wall:

That sounds exactly how it was for me. I remember this part more than giving birth too. I had a couple of shots of local anesthetic and the gas and air because i felt so sore down there

I made the midwife give me about 4 injections before I would let her stitch me up :rotfl: She gave the first one and I kept telling her it was hurting after each one, I think with all the gas and air I was honking on I got confused with the ache in my tummy lol. Still, at least I didn't feel a thing

I had a retained placenta and had to have a GA to have it removed so was out for the count when they stitched me up so funnily enough didn't feel a thing. Was a nice wee rest after having not slept for 3 days!

and me! I was given a top on my epidural which didnt work as I pulled the line out my back just slightly so it didnt go in  I then had gas and air, I used it so much I paused to ask if I could have too much or OD on it and when they said no I was like THANK GOD FOR THAT!! :rotfl: After half hour I asked if they had finished and the doc kindly informed me she hadnt even bloody started and that was just the numbing injections  2 hours later it was done and that was after telling them not to bother stitching my labia because it hurt too much. It was deffo worse than labour - have MAXIMUM pain relief if you tear, I wish Id been knocked out  Im gutted the epi didnt work!!!

am i the only one who didn't really feel it?
i felt a slight sting at the most from the injection.
right at the end my midwife said sorry this is going to be unkind
because i havent been able to numb this bit..and i only felt a small
nip- i was holding and staring at hayden while it was done and i was just so relieved that i'd finally given birth to him..also after all those hours of contractions i just didn't care what they did to me!

oooo it stung when she dragged the thread through the skin ...I didn't even have that glorious gas and air to suck on... but tbh after the pain of labour with sod all pain relief... being stitched up without even local anaesthetic was a walk in the park... it was more sharper pain than the all encompassing labour pain...

they let me have some gas & air- i'd had a little bit at 5cm but the MWs took it off me for abusing it (using it in between contractions- felt like i'd had half a pill lol!) shortly after- and it doesnt even come near the pain in the last bit anyway-

they'd made me do the worst bit without any pain relief so i was pleasantly suprised when they offered me the G&A for the stitches! and i *think* they put a local spray on it too cant remember. tbh it still hurt a bit but it was 2nd degree thats when the muscle tears too so its to be expected really. and ur natural painkiller endorphins are still there anyway i think, peeing didnt really hurt straight after i'd given birth it was the day after it felt like razor blades on fire!

UIm soo squemish i actually feela bit woozy reading all this, had to have an ebay break and come back to it, im having everything they offer before il even let her go anywhere near otehrwise bollocks to it :shakehead: :wall:

No we're not. I had no choice in the matter if I wanted my front and back bottom back. One hole for all isn't so appealing! :rotfl:

I had a local anesthetic but also had to use the gas and air.... it really stung!!!
