Hi all new to this site so brief rundown. DH and I have been trying to conceive my second his first baby for over two years now. Had been referred to local NHS fertility clinic. So after loads of tests DH and I just got very disappointing results re his SA. Unfortunately the only route available to us via NHS was IUI (because of DS) which SA results have now scuppered:wall2:. We've been told only option now is to investigate private clinics. We've made an appointment at a local private clinic which is in a couple of weeks but dunno what to expect or where we go from here really. So any input greatly received. Have been looking at the possibility of egg sharing to keep costs down but again don't really know that much about it. xx

Hi Tigger

Sorry to hear about your journey so far.

I don't know much about the private route as our treatment so far has been on the NHS but I just wanted to say hi x

Hi hun

Sorry to hear you haven't been referred - i am slightly surprised as it was my OH's poor SA results that meant we were eligible (low morphology)

Our NHS IVF/ICSI didn't work out so we went private but did it at the same hospital as they were professional and enquiries suggested that despite low advertised prices, other clinics tended to add extra fees all over the place so that it was more expensive.

Our ICSI treatment cost around 4 grand.

There are some ladies here who have been treated abroad and seem to have had good results.

Hope everything works out for you xx

Thank's guys our appointment is on the 24th July so we will just have to wait and see where that takes us. xxx

So we had our appointment and have been getting all our blood tests etc done and got nurses appointment on the 8th September to start treatment. Still seems ages away but only time I could get off work.

Good luck with your IVF journey. I had to go private too cos I have a son, they wouldn't even fund IUI, nothing at all.
We have been given 3 months to try naturally and then its IVF for us too due to my AMH. Hope this month goes quickly for you xx

Aww thank you. We do get the option of IUI on NHS where we stay but when DH SA came back they wouldn't offer it because his results would have meant that it really wouldn't have been successful but that is the only assistance they would offer on NHS. I do understand why people that have children don't get NHS assistance but do feel it's a bit unfair that the fertility issue is with DH and he doesn't have any children......but hey ho we just have to deal with it. We're doing egg share as my AMH is very high xxx

That's a lovely thing you're doing with egg sharing.
I think the NHS IVF thing is so unfair, I have a son but my OH doesn't, its not fair on him. I really think they need to reassess how they work it out, I do know there has to be a cut off but apparently doing IVF costs them nowhere near the amount they charge to private patients. That turned into a little rant, just frustrating xx

Good luck with everything, we're paying ourselves too as we have a daughter and my hubby so has a son. We both have problems but we were recommended iui as a first try and it worked first time, although unfortunately ended in miscarriage. Do you know your hubby's SA numbers? My hubby's morph ranges from 2-4% and his numbers are now just about the low end of normal and iui worked! Fluke maybe...

Reduced density of only 7.25million/ml and reduced total count of 23.9. Also reduced motility of only 15% xxx

Ah ok, yes a bit on the lower side for iui to be an option really xx
