Starting clomid with no AF? Help?

Has anyone started clomid without having a period?

Consultant wants me to pick a day and start, says it's not actually necessary to have a period to be able to start clomid?

My first round was a bust so this is my second and been bumped upto 100mg.

Anyine have any experience?

I know loads of people who get progesterone-pills to induce period before starting on clomid .. wierd that ur doc said you could just start them.

Yeah that was my understanding. Especially because with the first round he gave me progesterone to induce on. I did ask but he said, as I haven't O'd and arent pregnant, theres no reason that I need to wait for AF, or have another one induced. He said new research is suggesting that starting clomid without a bleed can actually up the success rate, something to do with the linning.

I haven't started them yet, and was just wondering if anyone had any experience or info about doing it this way.

It does seem strange tho.

I always had a bleed induced first but I have heard of people starting without. If that is what they say try it and see. Were you on 50 first round? I needed 100 to ovulate and conceived on 125 as I thought I just needed an extra push by round 7. Good luck!

Yeah, it just thought it was strange as he induced one for the first round.

Yeah, i was on 50mg cd2-6, bit of a wacky time, as he was convinced I O'd at first but then cane apparent that I hadn't. Clomid gave me sore nipples for about a week didn't realise it was a side effect of the meds.

Yeah he bumped me up to 100, if I don't O on 100mg, then its up to 150mg.

I'm on metformin too, dont see any improvement there tho. Considering taking inositol again.

Going to start taking clomid one day this week, I always get major anxiety before starting meds, haha. Convinced the side effects are going to kill me lol, even tho the only side effects i had on the first round were really nad headaches and mood swings.

I had metformin alongside my last three cycles, my consultant said it was pointless as I wasn't insulin resistant but after reading loads of success stories with both clomid and metformin used together I asked my gp if I could try if for my last few cycles and she said it wouldn't do any harm to try. It didn't appear to do anything for me but who knows. I was moody (but was that because it was making my hormones work properly who knows) and a bit hot. I get sore nips with ov so got those too if I remember correctly. I did a mix of days 2-6 and 3-7 and think 3-7 was better for me so if we try again I will go with 3-7 and 125... Although 125 did make me ov both sides and twins is a knackering thought! Have you got tracking scans?

No, didn't offer them, just day 21 bloods.

Well girls, I think my body knew I wanted to start clomid as I started spotting on my own a few days ago whoxh turned into light bleeding yesterday and the day before it is extremely light, this is the first period I have had on my own with being induced in almost two years! Maybe the metformin has started to work? So I am counting today as CD 2 and have just popped two clomid tabs, im on nights tonight so thought it would be best to take them in the morning ans try sleep through any side effects.

I get sore nipples after O too snowbee! Which is why the last clomid cycle confused me so much because I got sore nipples CD21 ubtill CD35ish, and a temo rise to so was sure I'd Od, but nope xx

Sounds promising. Will you be doing opks or temping so you go for bloods on the correct day? Even on clomid I ovd later in my cycle than cd14.

I'm going to order some cheap OPKs, i have a clear blue fertility moniter so im also going to get some sticks for that. Ive never had much luck with opk's before though, never gotten a positive. And I'll be temping, I think im going to need to get a new themometer though, I don't trust the one ive got atm xx

Might be as you haven't been oving? That is actually a good sign as means opks may well work for you, some pcos ladies always read positive due to having high lh levels. If poss I would do several a day to see what time of day you get your surge as it can be easy to miss. Start early, cd10 and keep going, hopefully you will get a positive. I ovd late even on clomid so I would keep going even if you think it is too late if you don't see anything.

My Opks hsve just arrived, tool my last clomid tablet yesterday early morning.

I bought a mixture of digital opks, and cheapy ones. Think ive got 72 in total haha!

Just got a flashing smiley on the CB advanced digis, a High in the CBFM, they were all Low and negative yesterday, havent taken a cheapy opk yet today. Will wait till this afternoon.
