Started weaning

this is interesting! so really what it is saying there is no need to puree everything? still think Id be scared to give her finger foods yet. I think I might try this though when she gets to 6months. beanie ella is 5months 1 week and 1 day old! (according to my ticker!)

Ella has rice cakes and finger foods now (Strips of parsnip and sweet potato). She can't really eat much but she's getting the skills together to be able too.

You should get some baby rice cakes from Boots/Tescos and see what she thinks. They're gluten, wheat, taste free (ok maybe not the last one!).

I was worried about her choking too until I read what Beanie said about there being more chance of them choking when spoonfed as they have no control over it.

Just a teeny bit younger then Seren :D

Six months is the recommended age for finger foods so you'd be doing it at a good time. I'm only going ahead as she handles rusks and rice cakes really well so am trying her with banana (though my carpet may not look so nice after)

Get a dog Beanie! Mine have hoovered up sweet potato and rice cakes today. Ella picks it up, waves it around and drops it on the floor.

I have got one but he is 15 and not as wiley as he used to be so you have to shove him onto the food before he sees it lol. Cats are useless, they don't like banana only dead bird!!!!

I didn't think mine would like rice cakes. Think they got jealous seeing Ella getting 'treats' so thought that it must be worth eating! They wont be happy when she can actually eat a lot of it!

Oscar is been eating baked sweet potato - hand it to him whole, just skin removed. Also banana, potato, pear & squash. He chews really well and I watch him milling his food at the front of his mouth.

He eats anything... I chop things into small chunks and feed it to him... just dont fancy to mess 3 times a day!! :D

Spoke to the HV this morning about when I can introduce pasta/bread/butter/cheese and he said from 6 months onwards that I can giver her pretty much everything apart from honey/peanuts.

In a couple weeks I will start giving her toast in the morning and try her with some pasta as time progresses. I think that I will get the gluten free stuff at first as even though he said it was fine I don't want to suddenly start bombarding her with things like that.

E use Gluten free pasta - Australian make. A bit floury but very nice! Great with pesto and roasted butternut.

There are a few health shops around that sell it and Tesco has quite a range. My grandad has to get a lot of gluten free stuff and he gets his from there. I saw some pasta in Boots the other day for babies but it was quite dear iirc.

Peter rabbit do pasta for babies, I remember seeing it in tescos! :D

That's what I saw in Boots, but I think it was quite dear :?

Tried Seren on a banana today, she loved it as did my carpet, the tabl;e etc. More banana in the room then in Seren.

Its crap how gluton free costs more, I mean they have taken something o put so it should be cheaper

Bless! Be prepared for banana poo. I had sweet potato chunks in Ella's today. Yummy! I still haven't rinsed it out. Just hid it in the nappy bin and ran away

banana is the worst it comes out all black and looks like it has ash in it! and banana is a bugger to get out of anything as it goes black within half and hour. I have given up trying to get the stains out of matthews bibs !!!

As you can see from Ella's pic all she's wearing is a bib and a nappy. I was clever  ;) (actually it was really hot out!).

I was gonna give Roo a banana today but they have all gone :(
