Hi all

Was just wondering how you all went about spreading the news that you're expecting? And when? I've heard that a lot of people don't tell till after 12 weeks, but I'm finding it hard to contain myself! I just want to rush around and tell everyone I know!

my husband and I have decided not to tell anyone till after we've told our parents, as we think they should be the first to know, and we've agreed to tell them both on the same day so it's as fair as possible. But mine first. After all, she's MY mum!

We're going to tell them on Mother's Day. I'll be nearly 8 weeks by then, and it's something we always threatened to do. We said we'd wait till the nearest card-giving occasion, and then by them a 'grandma' or 'grandad' card. So this mothers day, they'll be 2 mum's cards, and 2 grandma cards! Signed with love from 'Bump'

What do you think? Cheesey? It just seems more fun than 'we've got something to tell you'

Sounds like a plan! We haven't told anyone because I had mc previously so we're being super cautious! We've ordered some school photos for our daughter and should have scan photo around same time so gonna go see parents with scan pic and school pics to give to them! I'm really bad at keeping big news quiet so the wait is killing me!

We've told parents and best friends but that's it.

We told my parents in a card to my mum on her birthday that said 'love from me, DH and Little Bean (Due 12th October 2010) - my mum FREAKED - she was sooooooo excited! Was definitely a great way to tell them!

aww thats lovely :) told my sister in that way.....it was her 30th so i wrote lots of love Laura and baby due 3rd of june :)

she screamed and dropped the bloody card whilst knocking her cuppa over hahah

AAAARRRRR!!!!! i think its is one of the best bits of pregancy i absolutelty loved tellin every1 the news. my mum was sssoooo shocked and my step dad cried. i just loved seein everyones faces. one the best feelings in the world.
i loved telling my partners nan as she recentley lost her husband, and it gave her somthing to look 4ward to, she was over the moon.

Its the best news ever :D

I like it when people aint seen me for ages and they say "laura look at the size of that bump"
Even though im aware im massive lol its still nice to think awww im havin a baby hahaha sounds random

xx

I told my mum and dad on my mum's birthday. We've told my OH's dad but not his mum as she won't be able to keep it a secret. Other than that we've told 3 close friends and my boss. Really struggling not telling anyone else but decided to wait until the 12 week scan to make sure everything is ok x

Awww all sounds so lovely!

Don't know how i'm going to come out with it to be honest. We are waiting till the scan i think to tell people including my boys!

We did think of taking our LO with us to the first scan and tell him i have to have a little check up on my belly as it's poorly...when the scan shows us the baby we'll tell him...can't wait to see his face, he's bursting for a little brother or sister!!! Can't exactly do it with the oldest as he'll know but we'll probably just show him the pic or something

Some great ideas here!

I have only told a few close friends and my Mum. What I love this time, is the utter disbelieve as they think I have finished my family years ago! I have a 11 year old (bday today), a 9 year old and my daughter will be 8 in 3 weeks time so a while ago. Watching the dropping jaws is great fun!

Same here JJ mum! Everyone will be gobsmacked as everytime everyone asked if we were thinking of having another we said no. My oldest is 13 and my youngest will be 7 in April so big gaps between all of them!

oh wow, so were both starting again really!

Good luck when you tell them all, especially your kids, It's hard to hide how rought you feel with sickness from the older one isn't it? an't wait to tell the kids, they will love it, being so close in age they were never old enough to remember me having the baby bit a be a real part of it, oldest was 2.5 when I had the last one.

Aww it's going to be fab, i can't wait!

I can just imagine it when i announce it to my oldest...i'll get a big fat 'mm'. Cos thats all i get out of him lately...teenagers!

Tis hard keeping it from them though. The oldest would keep it to himself but the youngest would tell EVERYONE.

I haven't been feeling too bad to justify anything really...just tiredness but i'm known to doze off on the couch on a few times anyways so nothing out of the ordinary lol

Hope it all goes well with telling the kids and that hun!

the only person that knows about our baby is my sister and i didnt even get to tell her lol she walked in when the midwife was here for my booking in app i just looked at her and she just looked at me and i think she knew then, i've told her she cant tell anyone but im sure she went home and told her other half which is fine. oohhhh dont tell my bf but ive also told my little girl shes 22 months and dosnt have a clue really what im talking about but giving my belly a kiss anyway but waiting 2 tell monty as he is 5 and want to make sure everything is fine first but cant wait.
