well starting to get some lists together of the bits we need for baby and can't quite believe how expensive everything is. been trying to find websites with some discounts on etc. anyone know of any?

xxx

There's loads of things that shops etc will try to convince you you need that you absolutely don't! Also nct do nearly new sales, check out their website to see if there's anything near you. I know some ppl are funny about not buying second hand but honestly for babies because they're in things so short a time it's easier and cheaper to buy second hand (not car seats or mattresses though).

thanks. ive looked at babies r us, mothercare, ikea, argos kiddicare.

anymore you know of that are resonable. also looked at some stuff on ebay but not too sure about some stuff.

im tempted to just get a wardrobe and chest of drawers from argos normal range cos kids stuff is so much more expensive. love the way they add more money cos it's for the children.

what other 2nd hand websites are good?

sorry bit confused and panicky about it all.

xxxx

?have u tried gumtree and preloved for second hand

just looked on gumtree. will try preloved. thanks. xxx

Was about to suggest gumtree ;)
I've been given stuff already, my friend has a heap of stuff for me as well. My other friend got me a second hand pram from someone at his work. Mum and step dad are buying me a cot bed and mattress. Got a car seat. I've bought a few things. Helen is right there are lots of things that aren't essential and some second hand stuff is in great condition. I'm amazed at how generous people are when a new baby is on the way :)

Nmf what all do you still need to get?

Argos used to have a kids wardrobe, chest of drawers and beside table for £99 but a nightmare to build it.

yeah dad is buying my pram which includes a car seat.

can get a cot from ikea and a mattress from mothercare which will be £140. so not too bad.

it's the wardrobe etc im struggling with. i know people are saying they want to buy me things for the baby but i find it difficult to ask for stuff when they say what. xxx

pinkymum still need:

cot
mattress
bedding
wardrobe
chest of drawers
moses basket?
some form of bouncer chair/ swing

then little bits and bobs i think.

already have pram, bath and bottles/ streiliser etc.

not really buying any clothes as sister and sister inlaw will have plenty of vests, and unisex stuff for now. i can probbaly borrow a moses basket but i don't want to have to worry about someone elses stuff.

I got cot and moses basket sheets from Matalan all pretty cheap! if you've got facebook there's probably for sale groups in your area! there's loads of baby stuff on the ones in my area xx

Oh and i just got a normal wardrobe from Argos. i got one with 3 draws at the bottom for £89 it looks nice and does the job! for vests, Sleepsuits Bibs and socks i got one of them plastic storage draw things which can be re used later for toys etc x

thats a good idea. didnt think of those storage box drawers. xx

Oh that is a good idea! I'm trying to carpet and furnish my new house as well as the nursery lol. This is typical me, don't do things by halves! I'm gonna need a wardrobe and chest of drawers for the nursery as well. Someone said on tri 2 that they got those canvas wardrobes.
It's the decorating I can't be bothered with, I'm useless at painting!

You could always ask for mothercare vouchers or something?

Don't worry about using someone elses basket, you won't ruin it! And you can have nice new sheets (mine are from matalan too). Our daughter outgrew her basket by 4 months and went into the cot although she could have went in sooner she was so big.

I think that would be a good idea to ask for vouchers as someone just said. Kill 2 birds with one stone and all that.

I moved house at 34 weeks pregnant and decorated the whole house Other than the bathroom and downstairs toilet, had carpets laid upstairs and Laminate downstairs. it cost a fortune (luckily my dad paid for all the flooring) and was extremely stressful! i Suprised i didn't go into labour Up a ladder lol x

I'm kinda glad I moved earlier in pregnancy. I was so stressed as well and heaps of my stuff was delayed getting delivered cos of the bad snow. I've got the livingroom carpet laid, new flooring in the hall and kitchen, just bought my bedroom carpet. Now I have no pennies left, no idea where I'm going to get a carpet for the stairs, and nursery :( does your dad want to buy mine too ;)

ZMD did you paint the place yourself? I think my mum is gonna help me, I'm useless at painting! My bathroom has this awful lilac paper with Chinese writing on lol.
