So apparently I have a unicornuate uterus!

Fingers crossed you'll be fine :). I was warned that starting the IVF meds would sen me loopy but I've been ok apart from emotional. I can't wait to see how you get in :) xxx

Thanks jemjem wishing u lots of luck too!! Xx

I've been reading that clomid can make your cm dry!? Just looking at lubricants just incase so I can be prepared! Xx

Not to sure about cm but bet to get some lub just incase :). Xxx

Hey jemjem not sure if your still on here? How did your Ivf go? Fingers crossed it worked and you now have your little bundle of joy xxx

Hi xxcharliexx I see that you've recently welcomed your much anticipated bundle of joy into the world, huge congratulations.
I too have recently been diagnosed with UU and had a laparoscopy earlier this week to remove my one fallopian tube to prevent eptopic pregnancy on my under-developed side. I am due to start chlomid next cycle and see that this did not work for you. I was hoping you wouldn't mind sharing your experince with me so I know what to expect or if you think I am wasting my time altogether with the clomid? I'd really appreciate hearing from someone who has been in the same situation. Thank you.

Hiya! Yes we finally got our little one after almost 4 years! I was on clomid for 7 months and I knew after 3 failed months it was a waste of time but then they gave me more which I wasn't happy about. I didn't like it, made me feel really moody too. It can work but my dominant ovary is the one on my bad side so I think that's why it didn't work for me.

We went straight into IVF then and we were lucky it worked first time. I did get ohss and had to freeze my embryos and wait 3 months. They put one back in after the 3 months and he set up home for the next 9 months :) I was high risk for preterm labour as you will be too. My pregnancy was consultant led with lots of scans to keep an eye on his growth. At around 28 weeks I was told I would be lucky to get to 34 weeks and it's highly unlikely that I would make my section date at 39+4 weeks. My little fella stayed in right until the end. It's strange carrying a child all on one side and pretty uncomfortable! His head was engaged very early but I still had his feet up in my ribs as he didn't have any space. I was told by consultant I could go for a natural birth but I was advised otherwise by midwives not to as our womb shape is so different it doesn't contract the same way and labour would be long and very hard on both me and baby.

Feels like only yesterday I was in your position, feeling a bit lost that I had this problem and I felt like I didn't have a hope in hell but I found plenty of success stories and it kept me going. It's hard but when you get your bfp you will be well looked after by hospital.

How long have you been Ttc xx

Ah, thank you ever so much for getting back to me, I really appreciate it, it is lovely to find someone who actually knows what it is like. We have been trying to conceive for a year but only found out about the UU a couple of months ago. The only problem I was experiencing is that I was having really light periods and then a started spotting, or more like very dark brown discharge each cycle from about 6dpo for about a week, then nothing for a day and then my period starts. Our gynaecologist thinks I have a hormone imbalance and was just doing a scan to make sure everything was ok before starting me on the clomid, and that's when they found the UU.
Did you have any indications of your UU, light periods or spotting or anything?
Did they do scans when you were on clomid so you knew which ovary was ovulating?

I had irregular periods before clomid and it did regulate me to 30 day cycles so it was good for that. No I didn't have scans, every month, just blood tests.

My periods have always been light, lasting around 2-3 days. And period pains just on one side which id never thought was anything different to anyone else at the time. Tmi but I also had blood only on one side of the tampon which I always thought was strange but didn't think to question it.

I took it really bad when I found out about my UU, I felt deformed inside it was horrible. Felt quite alone too. Blamed myself over and over for it. Wasn't nice. But I soon got my positivity back when I read the success stories, a lot of women don't know they have it until they try to give birth.

Did you have 2 ovaries? Did they check if you have 2
Kidneys? Xx

Yeah, I have 2 ovaries, which the consultant say both look good and I have 2 kidneys.
How did you know which side you were ovulating from if you didn't have scans? Do you have both fallopian tubes? Did you have to have any treatment before starting the clomid, ie removal of the 1 fallopian tube?
Yeah, it was a complete shock for us as well, just couldn't believe it! Initially we were told that we would have a higher risk of miscarriage and would only be able to get to 32 weeks, when they would do a planned section, but they now say that the developed half looks so good that we may not have any problems, so fingers crossed! Did you have to have any additional support when you were pregnant, like progesterone shots or anything?

I didn't know I had a more dominant ovary until going through IVF. So I just assumed that that's why I hadn't gotten pregnant on clomid as I had no trouble once the embryo was in. I just don't think eggs were getting there as coming from wrong side..

I'm surprised they would give you a section at 32 weeks. They booked mine for 39+4 but if I went into labour before I would of still had a section. My womb is very very small and I got all the way to the end so I'm sure you would get there :)
Women have carried twins and even triplets with our condition which amazes me as I seen how squashed my little one was towards the end. I'll DM you a pic of my bump at the end it's quite funny.

I didn't have any surgery prior to treatment no. I also didn't have progesterone during the pregnancy. If I didn't get ohss I would have been using progesterone but we had a frozen transfer without any drugs which was great as I knew my body had done the hard work on its own! :) xx

Did you have all your treatment on the NHS or did you go privately for any of it? How long was the process of IVF from when you were first referred to go onto the waiting list? How often did you have scans during your pregnancy? During your journey did you come across anyone with the UU who got pregnant without IVF or does it seem like that is the mostly likely way of conceiving with this condition? Wow, sorry, firing questions, I really will stop after this, I promise and thank you again xx

Ahh ask away :) I'm happy to help.

We had ours on nhs. From filling in the forms it was about 12 weeks until we started stims. In that time though you have other tests happening and also an evening to attend to learn all about it, so it goes really quick. I had the short protocol so straight onto stim injections and my body worked pretty quick. Think I was injecting for around 10 days before I had my eggs collected. I would have had my transfer 5 days after but I had ohss so waited 3 until my 3rd cycle then after ov I had a 5 day transfer.

We had scans for growth about every 6-8 weeks but Hayden had a cyst in his abdomen so we had extra scans for that. So every 4 weeks.

I looked into UU so much and read a lot of success stories. You can fall pregnant naturally and clomid might just give you the kick start you need :) xx

Wow, that's really quick, I've been told that the waiting list is currently 2 1/2 years here! So, they've referred us to go on the waiting list while we try clomid so we don't have to start at the beginning if that doesn't work!
My current main concern is about the spotting, which I think is caused by low progesterone, as my highest reading has only ever been 24! Did you find that the clomid gave you higher progesterone readings? xx

I never had low readings I don't think as never heard anything about it, and when it came to my embryo transfer I didn't need any progesterone so must have been ok.

Can't believe your waiting time, it's good that they have you on the list already though. Where about are you? Xx

We're in Cardiff. We've done everything privately so far as I was referred to our consultant on the NHS at the end of Feb and wasn't going to see him until Sep, so arranged to see him privately instead. It was then going to take 5 months for the MRI and 9 months for the laparoscopy, which I have already had this week privately. We would obviously prefer not to have to pay privately for IVF though, because that's a much bigger expense! We're just really hoping that the clomid works, but so far I'm not hearing many success stories! xx

My friend fell pregnant with clomid twice each time off the first month of it. She doesn't have our condition but it worked for her so easily after her trying for over a year. I hope it happens for you :) xx

Thank you, me too. I start it a week Monday so I'll keep you posted xx

Ahh please do :) if you start a journal on here let me know as I'd love to see how your getting on :) xx

Hi Charlie, yeah, I thought a journal may be a good idea to try to keep my mind straight, especially as I'm currently stuck in bed! It's called 'TTC - who knew something so natural would be so hard!' I hope you don't mind that you get a mention, not by name of course! xx
