Mine and babies hospital bags are packed but not yet bought any drinks/snacks!

I only really drink water but I've seen lucozade Gatorade recommended??

On the snacks front I've gotten a bit stuck at protein bars ... I love the nature valley ones so will take a few but don't want to eat them for hours straight. Any recommendations or cravings from previous labours? Don't mind how crazy - my friend was eating iced buns in the birthing pool
Obviously for the mo I'm thinking of stuff I can have ready packed (I'm 37+1)

Xxx

I took lucozade, the flat isotonic orange one, and a box of individually wrapped flapjacks. Had other stuff packed in my husbands hospital bag for him (and me if I fancied it) but other han drinking thr lucozade I didn't eat anything. I wasn't hungry and eating wasn't realy at the front of my mind to be honest! I did end up eating most of them when I was on the warn in the middle of the night when I was up feeding so definitely pack a few things x

Iv got some still Lucozade isotonic drinks, flavoured water, mini cheddas and hula hoops, some dried apricots and cadburys brunch bars - not sure if it's a good selection or not but wanted sweet and savoury and thought dried apricots might be a good alternative to junk food too? X

I had kitkats but that's bc they happened to be in my handbag when I went into labor

I have a couple of bottles of fizzy, a robinsons squashd for water and then some crisps/pitta chips/cereal bars. I didn't eat anything when I was in labour with daughter as was in so much pain food was last thing on my mind but I know my OH appreciated the snacks lol x

So glad you asked this summer!!

I want to make OH dinner to bring with us but when do I make it without knowing when I'll go in to labour jaha xxx

Honestly I got the epidural and food was the last thing on my mind. I was fine and relaxed but didn't think about food until mum brought out the kitkats and said I needed energy. I was in labor for ten hours and hadn't eaten anything for 24 hours btw.

I'm struggling here as I am ment to continue monitoring my blood sugars n eat healthy even in Labour!!! N I'm being induced so will need more probably altho the food was fab at my hospital I actually enjoyed my breakfasts lunches etc .But so far I've got the Robinson's squash thing that u add to water, hate fizzy drinks or lucazade so will b water or squash for me. Also got sum crisps, n will make me own homemade no sugar flapjacks other than that it's guna b chocolate n sweets for after when I can finally eat sugar lol.

P.s I packed sandwiches n crisps etc for hubby last time n we bought him a hot meal in the cafe.

Oh I do remember now tho that the room next door got fish n chips!!! Cud smell it wen I went to the loo(two rooms one bathroom in the middle)n it did make me laugh altho at that point I didn't want to eat anything.

I'd packed some still lucozade drinks, polos, wine gums, cereal bars and a few other bits in a bag for hubby. It all got left I the car, little monkey came so fast! I'd just pack a little mixture of sweet and savoury so you have a choice.
I seem to remember them coming round with sandwiches at one point (may have been after delivery) oh and the toast and tea after the birth was heaven lol! Xx

Good question, I'm going to try and finish my hospital bags this weekend. Will get some Gatorade, don't like the lucozade ones apart from the light ones. There is a little tesco across the road from the hospital so I'm not going to take loads of snacks in. My aunt lives near the hospital too so said she'd drop in some picky food if we needed it. Im really hoping i dont have to stay in long xx

I didn't eat anything as it was the last thing on my mind. Had a 32 hr labour which started at 1am so didnt eat for 40hrs!!!! I bought some lucozade but everytime I drank some I threw up! So won't be packing anything this time lol

I reckon id prefer drinks from the vending machine
I like drinks to be ice cold

I never even thought about food or drink. I went into hosp tues at 6pm for induction. Had him 8.25pm wed. Didnt eat anything till the nurse brought me tea and toast after. Food never crossed my mind... although i was very sick the whole way through my labour even the anti sickness injection didnt work. I just sipped on water and sucked on ice. I dont think i could pre pack drinks as i like mine nice and cold. As for snacks im hoping i can maybe grab a few things before actually going into hospital.

Thanks ladies! I like the idea of your no sugar flapjacks Michelle (I'm managing to keep just below borderline GD using diet) what do you use instead of treacle to bind the oats?

It's from davinas no sugar cook book but it's only refined sugar she cuts out so u use honey, chopped dates, desiccated coconut, butter n porridge oats. Still not healthy really but all natural sugars n tasted good.

They had a fridge in my hospital so u cud leave sum bits like yoghurt, milk n drinks in it. Might take sum low fat yoghurts.

I was craving shit for 9 months, so I took dairy milks, monster munch and coke.

I sat on my bed, in early labour eating pickled onion crisps and chocolate then after the labour I skipped the tea, got two cans of coke and some ice in a sports bottle.

It. Was. Fucking. Heaven.

Worked wonders for my sugars aswell. Lucozade and other energy drinks make me acidy and sick, so that was a nogo.

xxxx

Didn't eat during labour - or drink a great deal

However afterwards I drank loads of fizzy pop, crisps, cerial type bars!

Shopping for all that tomorrow!! Although I preferred cold vending machine sprite to my warm lucazade !

I had an epidural and was only allowed water during labour - think this was in case I needed to go into theatre which I did in the end. I felt really sick though so wasn't hungry anyway. My oh was though and popped out to the car to eat - I remember being slightly incredulous when he asked mid contraction if I minded if he went to get some food as he was starving lol! I appreciate his need to keep his strength up but the timing was a bit off haha xx

Yeah I've packed mini robinsons cordial thing for water and some lucozade, some crisp, some small choc bars (fudge), box of haribo, flapjacks and cereal bars. Not sure I'd fancy any of it but at least the BF can't moan he'll be hungry x
