I've been having bad pains for 2 weeks now. They've been getting worse over the past couple of days and I haven't slept for 3 days because of them. I keep getting bad period pains every 20 minutes and back pains and shooting pains down there. I feel constantly tired and sick.i haven't had the show yet. I rang the midwife and she said I could be in slow labour. Am I in slow labour and what does this mean??

It's braxton hicks I think... Pelvis moving, baby engaging ect... Just everything getting ready, you will know when it's real contractions xxz

sounds like it yeah, this can go on for a while before your labour actually begins. i know with my first baby i too had no sleep for three nights due to awful back pain.

sounds normal to me,
probably your body just gearing up ready, baby getting into position etc.
if you're worried or unsure still, call your midwife again.

Rang the midwife again today and she said I'm in slow labour as I'm getting contractions every 10 minutes. I've tried having a bath and sleeping but the pains are really intense x

Hi there, that is actually a labor that is preparing for you to have your baby out. So, it is normal and if the contractions are less that a minute after another one then you are ready to give birth.

This is so tough. I had a 2 week lead in and then it took 3 days from waters breaking. Best thing I ever did was have a glass of wine on the day before I went in for them to speed things up as I slept pretty well for the night even with contractions coming every 10-15 mins. Also keep the paracetamol going regularly, it helps.

Don't forget the simple stuff too - massage, hot water etc. And distraction. I made my Dad take me to the garden centre the day after my waters went to keep me distracted
