hi...
so I know I wouldn't sleep on my back and should sleep on my side, but I keep walking up on my back with a headache, but if I wake up on my side I don't have a headache, could there be a connection between sleeping on ur back and walking up with a headaChe??xx

Sleeping on your back is meant to restrict oxygen flow around your body and organs can get squashed (depending on how big u are) so that may explain headaches if ur restricting blood flow/oxygen to the brain? I'm no doctor but I think that may be it? Xx

Hiya,

Lying on your back causes baby and everything to squash the main blood vessel running through your body. This probably causes reduced Venous return to the brain, hence your headache.

You cant stop yourself from lying on your back when your asleep but if your aware you've moved onto your back then roll over.

My partner keeps an ear on me when im asleep (he a very light sleeper) and tends to roll me if i end up on my back-you could ask your partner to be aware of your movements and if he wakes up and finds you on your back then maybe move u, or wake u?

Wait till you get bigger, i have pregnancy sciatica and lying on back is soooooo painful!

I wake up with headaches if i sleep on my back too :( Ive ordered one of those pregnancy pillows hopefully to stop me x

You could stop yourself sleeping on your back if you felt it really necessary (I saw it Jonathan Creek ) - you simply sew a pocket in the back of your pjs and put a tennis ball into it so if you roll onto your back, you're so uncomfy you either wake up or roll back onto your side - GENIUS!

I mentioned in another post i was getting bad heads and found out it was because my pillows were moved and slightly raised up so make sure your pillows are not too high as it causes a stuff neck which then goes to your head and you get an awful headache x

I just get alot of headaches, and find that lying down in general makes them worse, as I can no longer get comfy, just two paracetemol and a pillow from under your back and bump is the best I can recommend, I always have a tub of paracetemol at my bedside :) xx

love the tennis ball idea. absolutely genius. lol.xxx

Hahahah I saw this somewhere too!

By the way - pregnancy body pillows are the way to go! I love mine. We even moved our bed on to the oposite wall in our bedroom so that I will lie on my left side - I am one of them strange people that has to sleep on which ever side is nearest the door and always sleeps facing towards the edge of the bed!
