Should i stick with this name???

Right i LOVE the name Ava but OH hates it which i am GUTTED about as i really really want Ava

We like Lacey though, i don't like it as much as Ava but Lacey is the only other name i like and i have searched and searched! What does everyone think of this name? I know my "friend" doesn't like it but i don't really care.

Also i am wanting the baby to have my last name which is mcglasson but OH wants his name in the name so it would be Lacey Brown Mcglasson... does that sound stupid and a gob full? She probably won't use Brown but OH wants his name in on the birth certificate...tell me your honest opinions xxx

I think Lacey Brown McGlasson sounds nice Very cute! I do think it's only fair to honour your OH's wish to include his name...she is his child aswell and for most men it's important that their name is used. As for Ava....keep it on a back burner maybe? We got it down to 2 names...one I loved and one, like Lacey, I liked but didn't love as much as the other one...hubby discounted the one I loved so I accepted we would most likely use the one I liked as he really liked that one too...but eventually he came round to the one I loved and now that is our definite choice and I am so happy But if he hadn't come round I still would have been happy with the other name and it's important that you both like it, not just one xx

Yeah it was either have OH's last name in the middle or the last name...i just dunno what his mam is gonna say
I mean OH agrees with me, i never had to persuade him about my last name...but we don't plan on getting married anytime soon and if we ever do we could change LO's name couldn't we? I just kind of feel like people will think i am a bitch for not giving LO OH's name as alot of people use that name...I really want the same name as my child though. xxx

i didnt even consider giving my lo my surname. i am wuite old fashioned and think they should take fathers name but just my opinion.

not only that but my oh is the only one that can carry on the family name. xxx

see dnt agree with my baby having my name, he will have his dads as it isnt as easy to just change the surname, for example im getting married and codie is refussing to change her name so shes going to be the odd one out and i cnt force her to change her name, so we all going to be hills and she will be on her own as a hall and thats wrong!

I think Lacey is a lovely name

I will obviously be giving baby my surname, but our circumstances are very different. I think the double barreled surname is good, its nice for your lo to have her dads name too

I know what you mean though about wanting baby to have your surname though, and I suppose it's only fair on your OH to make babys middle name Brown. What about even having Lacey Ava Brown McGlasson? Don't know if you'll think it's a bit much, but it would mean if you and OH get married then she would be Lacey Ava Brown instead of just Lacey Brown? Just an idea

I would have liked baby to have my surname too but OH wants him to have his surname. I wish my surname could be used as a middle name but Calum McDowall Murphy sounds a bit silly I think.

If you want to use McGlasson and your OH is happy with his name being babys middle name then I don't see the problem with that she can always change her surname to Brown if she would prefer that when she is older x

Don't worry about what his side think hun, it's you and your OH's choice, not his families as long as you and him are happy with the name you pick then thats that!

Haha I'm the same with the marriage thing, maybe it's just cause my age, don't know.. but I just think I would rather we spent all that money on a holiday, towards a mortgage or something. Or lots and lots of shoes x

Well i think if OH doesn't change his mind then Lacey it is If he does...its Ava. I don't mind either way to be honest i'd much rather him like a name. Maybe over the next few weeks i will decide on the last name bit, most likely gonna be the double barrel name though. I'm not telling MIL though xxx

you coul always change your last name by deed pole if you want the same name as baby and oh if you didnt use your last name and it doesnt really cost all that much either. how about having Ava in the name too if OH wil allow it Lacey Ava go together i think i was to keen on what my oh choosen he chose Ramona and i liked Alanna so her name will be Ramona Alanna Topley ooo just reallised it spels RAT lol oh not good but both names you have are really nice

I went to the hospital yesterday and they couldnt find Blake's file when we checked in. I helped the girl on the desk sift through about 100 files, boys and girls, and was shocked just how many Ava's there were. I pointed it out to the girl and she said it's one of the most popular baby names at the mo.

You might not mind popular but I didn't want my child to be one of loads with the same name at school.

Yes Ava has become very popular since Myleene Class named her daughter it a few years ago.....

Hubby and I are the same with boy names, I loved Sam and hubby was like 'no way!' Is there any particular reason why he doesn't like Ava?
Lacey - I love! If little kicker is a girl she'll be Lacey, we've told everyone we're that certain lol!
Re the name; my aunt's kids all took her partners name even though they weren't married & even though they never married she changed her name to his as well, maybe you could think about doing that? X

Nah i don't want OH's name to be honest, i don't even know half of his family with the name either.

Was thinking OH was changing his mind about Ava...just a thought by how he has acted when i mentioned it. I said right its down to you then lol.

He just said it sounds stupid...like the way its spelt aswell. Hes got no taste xxx
