September 2017 Mummas Thread!

Nope, it'll not affect the pregnancy unless it's close to the cervix which is the same for posterior placentas too. You'll probably not feel as much movement with this baby so do pay extra attention to baby's pattern and go in for reduced or increased movements - don't put it down to the anterior placenta. Better to be safe than sorry :)

Hi all, I went for a private scan in the end as the worry was getting too much. All was fine with baby which is a huge relief! It was very active the sonographer said which was wonderful to see! Unfortunately the umbilical cord was between the legs so we couldn't see which Team we are but we have our hospital scan on the 12th and so will hopefully find out then. We also get a free rescan because they couldn't see the gender so we will get another scan in June :)

Anyone else had a real shit time trying to sleep the last few nights? :(

Misskth, yay on a second scan! When is your 20 week scan with the NHS?

FFO, I've been struggling with insomnia from day 1 and had it with the other two so I feel your pain. I hope it stops for you soon!

How is everyone else?

Hey everyone! hope you don't mind me joining in! Baby is due 5th September so am exactly 22 weeks today. Had our scan last week and found out we are team pink! :D This is my first baby so everything is very daunting and scary still but of coarse most of all exciting!

I have an anterior placenta too blueberrybaby8. I know 6 other pregnant women at the moment so I'm getting lots of info from others. One friend also has the same position she felt kicks from the outside at 22 weeks and now at 30 feels baby move regularly. I think I feel fluttering normally twice a day and once I think I felt a kick from the outside when I was laying with my hand in my side at about 20 weeks.

The Midwife told me I'll feel more movement on the side and at the bottom but it will become more regular.

My tiredness is back ten fold now as are sore boobs. I'm trying to leave them be otherwise they start to leak (one wonderful incident where this happened in front of a parent at school). As sore as they are I've learnt if I avoid touching them the colostrum stays put. I had my 20 week scan on Tuesday. I began to panic as she checked the heart as is took much longer than everything else, did anyone else find it took longer to check the heart?

She said everything was fine and when we zoomed out of the Herat baby had flipped position so maybe that's why she took longer.

How's everyone getting on with their baby to do/buy lists?

We've been given lots of stuff and I thought I wanted to buy everything to my own taste but now I'd rather save money and take longer maternity leave. Plus if anything breaks then we can replace it without stress.

I keep buying clothes in sales. I've only just heard that some babies are too big for newborn clothes. My friend advised buying tiny baby for the first few days so I haven't done this as I think my baby will be big (no idea why) I may just buy one outfit that we can take to the hospital in case and sell it on if it's too small.

I hope everyone's well! I can't believe how far we've come now x

Welcome MrsHills and congratulations on Team Pink!

My sonographer took about 15-20 minutes to check the heart, it was a bit excessive! Have you started using breast pads? I have a mixture of first size and 0-3, mine are big, leggy babies (8lb 6oz and 8lb 12oz), with huuuuuge legs from their dad and they usually stay in first size for about 4-6 weeks after birth. Having loads of clothes in those first few weeks is enormously helpful with the amount of poonamis and possets, the last thing you'll be feeling up to is a rake of washing every couple of days!

Just caught up on the missed pages. Sounds like you're all doing pretty well, apart from those finding sleep difficult! This week I've started to struggle. I feel like I'm in a fortress of pillows lol but seem to change from my left to right side quite a few times in the night. I think baby lies on the left so don't find that side as comfortable.

How's everyone doing with organising bits? We're being given some bits from friends and family, which is nice. Main bits are a steriliser, moses basket (we're buying a new mattress) and a jumparoo. So some really decent bits!

A similar conversation was going on about clothes in the August thread. It's good to know that first size clothes are needed as this was confusing me a bit!

I'm also in the anterior placenta crew! I wasn't surprised when the sonographer said as all of my movement feelings have been low down or to the side. Feeling baby boy most nights now and started to see from the outside about a week or so ago. So lovely feeling and watching my tummy :) can't wait for his movements to get stronger.

Happy weekend all!

Hello MrsHills!

I have had trouble sleeping since the beginning so I am used to it now! Have started just getting up now and not fighting it. We haven't started buying yet but have been given a few bits of clothes from family and a Moses basket from my half brother. I am panicking now that we should be starting to buy! Our 20 week scan is now less than a week away (I will be 21 weeks) and we are so excited! Hopefully this time Junior will not have the umbilical cord between the legs :)

Afternoon ladies, hope you're enjoying the lovely warm weekend!

I'm chuffed to bits, got an almost new Chicco Next to Me for £80!! My cousin will also give me her LO's bouncer too which is brilliant. I don't normally buy second hand but am reluctant to buy new when this is our last baby.

Need some tips with maternity clothes. I'm very petite and normally live in jean and t-shirts, the last two pregnancies I was basically housebound and spent most of my time in undies or very unflattering bits to try and keep cool. This time around I'll have nursery runs to do so need to look semi-acceptable! Any tips on where I can get clothes that help keep me cool and don't drown me??

Hi kumber I stick to maxi dresses or leggings and top. I'm already getting too hot so can't wait till it's acceptable to just wear a dress and flip flops. We already have everything from my son intact our snuzpod is still up next to the bed as there doesn't seem much point taking it down. We have new cover to put on at some point but will do that in August s. Sickness seems to be back and I'm so tired all the time. I can't wait till September and baby is here ! Xx

New look and mother care are good. Nothing ever seems to fit me but I'm big! Can't find mat jeans that fit my leg length xD Everything seems petite in there! :p
H&m usually have sale items to which start around a size 6... xx

Thanks ladies.

I have stuff from New Look and Mothercare from previous bumps and found the material very heavy. H&M stuff is flipping tiny, I have to get a size 14 and then all you can see is my bra under armpits which is mortifying! It's a pain in the bum being petite and carrying so big :wall2:

Yeah, not a fan in h&m maternity wear. Bought a top size large or xL and doesn't fit my arms :/ like who is fat but has slim arms still? Need to take it back. I bought some lovely dresses from primark and some long stretchy tank tops that I think I'll live in for the rest of pregnancy, gave up with maternity clothes now lol I'm 5'7 size 14 finding stuff normally that fits the length of my arms and legs is ridiculous anyways, which is why I love primark there leg size actually go up to 34!! Heh. X

Sorry for the back to back responses.. I'm literally catching up here as I haven't been on in a few weeks. I did also try h&m they suck... Carrying big even though I'm considered petite doesn't go well with h&m. I just decided not to care whether the clothes were maternity or not. I just buy everything big now. And I wear a lot of leggings. Or Capris. Sometimes the leggings make my legs sweat so bad that I can't actually wear them during the day. But, at night when it gets cool it's nice to throw them on. I also bought a few dresses for work that are XL. They fit nicely. Bought them from the gap.

I also have an interesting question... Anyone else having issues with being able to shave? Like, it's gotten really hard to shave my legs and my private area... I can't reach anymore. Anyone else experiencing this? Any suggestions? I really hate not being able to shave... Like hair is the number one thing that bugs me the most. It makes me feel dirty.. And I'd really like to be able to go out and about without having hair on my legs lol. Especially if I'm wearing dresses at work.

An update on my anomoly scan today! As you know when we went for our private gender scan a few weeks ago baby was in breech and the umbilical cord was between the legs so we couldn't find out gender. Well today it was in breech and they still couldn't see it well! Baby was facing away and they couldn't get all the measurements so they asked us to walk around and I had to fill my bladder with sugary drink. We went back and it was even worse! Baby was cross legged on its bottom and feet so no chance at all! She couldn't even finish all her measurements. So we have to go back next Friday. Third time lucky!

But the good news is that the measurements she could take all seems fine :)

That is one cheeky baby misskth! Hopefully it'll be third time lucky. Good to hear that they're measurements are looking good though :)

Hope everyone is well. Happy weekend!

Very cheeky baby, hopefully you can see the gender on the next scan! Glad all is well with baby otherwise.
