September 2017 Mummas Thread!

Thanks lovely, I needed that today. Psychotherapy and a very poorly hubby has made today tough!

It's a shame it's so quiet in here isn't it?

Um, anybody else already producing colostrum? I'm 25 weeks on Saturday and noticed it for the first time two nights ago..
Kinda creeped me out!
Yeah, I noticed it about 3 or 4 days ago myself. It's quite sticky!!

I thought you didn't get it until baby was here?
My boobs haven't changed one bit, kinda worried I won't produce milk ahh lol x

I haven't really noticed my boobs change. The bf says they're bigger and I struggle to find ANY bra that fits, maternity or otherwise, but visibly the don't look too different to before (but then they've always been up and down from a C to a D depending on weight).

I used to be a small b before I ever got preg but after all my mcs they have grown to a small c lol they just didn't go bk down.
But with this one nothing apart from my nipples growing, which make me look like I'm walking around with pepperoni slapped to em cos they're big compared to the rest of my booby. Not even had boob soreness. Weird

Yes totes I've had some colostrum I think and only 21 weeks! Thought it wouldn't come til about 36 weeks so was a bit freaked? I love my pregnant boobs, I wish they were like this all the time

How is everyone doing on the buying front, have you started? Nearly finished? Haven't even thought about it yet?

We are pretty much done, we got a Chicco Next To Me and still have all the sleep suits and vests from our bigger boys, so I've bought him is own ones that will be just for him. We've got a playmat so just need to get a bouncer, still got a steriliser so would just need bottles in the event he doesn't take to bfing. I think this is the most prepared I've ever been! Next is to pack the hospital bag nice and early so I don't have to worry about it. Both times we had a mad panic and I ended up forgetting bits, don't want to do that this time around!

Kumber you're just like me. After my 20 week scan was when I started to buy stuff properly (25 weeks yesterday!)

I've got so far - the cot, wardrobe and changing table; a bouncer, Chicco next to me crib; pram/pushchair system; car seat and isofix base; bottle and steriliser set (as I'm still unsure about bf-ing/incase he doesn't take to it).

Clothes wise, I've got loads of bodysuits/sleepsuits for 0-3 months and a few for 3-6 months, lots of scratch mitts, hats and bibs, a few booties.

The boyfriend has taken a very relaxed approach and let me sort of handle everything, because he knows it's how I deal with uncertainty is by taking control! But I'm going to drag him out clothes shopping for little outfits and then the rest of things like crib bedding/sleepbags/baby carrier/swaddles etc and get him involved a bit.
I keep asking his opinion on things and his response is that my opinion is more important which is irritating lol

Hi all! Sorry I haven't been on much, work has been manic :( But we have some good news! The scan was successful, third time lucky and we are having a girl! They also finally managed to finish all the measurements :) I am now 22+4 and we have started to think about buying things. We are wondering what we could get second hand to try and save some money as I am thinking as having as much maternity leave as possible! We went to Toys R Us this morning to check out prams/ travel systems etc and I have no idea where to start!

We're almost done to!
We went to the car boot today and there was a lady selling new baby clothes for like £1-2 a piece, needless to say she's kitted out now lmao.
Weve got cot, furniture set, swing, bouncer, rocking crib, clothes, 3 in one pram travel system thing, bean bag, changing table, bits and bobs of decrotive stuff... we need a moses basket and the car seat... is it best to buy a suitcase as a hospital bag? Also sleeping bags we bought 2.5 tog too much for summer? X

Sounds like you're well on your ways to being sorted ladies! I'm extremely glad I kept everything from the bigger boys as it's already ready to go, just need to get it all washed! No idea where I'll put everything

The only major thing we're missing is a cot, but that's because we've opted for a Next To Me instead. As I had bonding issues with DS2, I want to try and be as physically close to this baby as much as I can. We'll probably get a cot when he's a bit more mobile and the Chicco is no longer safe.

Debating over a buggy board for DS2 but we don't tend to use the buggy a whole lot. It was our biggest waste of money but was needed with a 14 month age gap. I like to imagine I'd use it more once we move to a house, but I doubt it as I really do despise walking  I don't envy the pram/travel system hunt that you'll be doing ladies, mine drove me absolutely bonkers with trying to figure out what was best for us.

I do find that sleeping bags are too big for teenies when they've first arrived, as their necks aren't very big they can wriggle themselves down into the bag. I've only tended to use them from about 6 months onwards, when they're a big chunkier. That being said, DS2 absolutely hated his and ended with a toddler duvet at 9 months as it was the only way to get him to sleep! :wall2: They're certainly unique, these small humans! Maybe consider the Grobag's 1 tog ones for summer sleeping, and I think they do bags from teeny weeny baby sizes too, whereas Asda, Tesco, Ikea, et al. are all 6 months+

Misskth, congratulations on a pink bundle! Thank goodness for that, it must have been driving you crackers wanting to know and being thwarted each time.

Yes it is so nice to know now :) The Mr felt her move for the first time a few days ago so we are filled with lovely milestones at the moment. x

Another milestone- we've just posted the news on Facebook lol!

Anyone recommend any good baby monitors, cot mattresses or crib mobiles?! xD
These are the things I'm struggling with currently!

Not a clue here, sorry I'm useless. Ours were bought for us and I didn't bother with a mobile. Will be keeping an eye out for monitor recommendations

Mattress we just got what ever they had in babies r us lol. Have a look and Amazon for monitors, my mom bought ours but they have some really good ones and cheaper than shops to.
Still looks for a mobile :/

Anyone getting ewan the sheep? It's 30 pounds don't know if to bother or find something similar for cheaper lol x

My sister in law to be really recommended Ewan and said it was one of her top, top buys!

I have a video monitor and really recommend it. I can't remember what make mine was, it was about £70 from Amazon but don't think it works now so will probably get a new one and have been looking at the BT ones which usually have good reviews. You can get them in Tesco for about £60.
