September 2017 Mummas Thread!

Hi Misskth. Just wanted to reply to this. I'm also a teacher and for me personally it would very much depend on the parent! I know some of ours would happily share information with many other Mums!! You would hope she would maintain confidentiality as she should in her role.

Did she ask if you minded like there was an alternative midwife you could opt for? So far on my midwife appointments I've seen 3 different ones (due to days off, late home births etc), but don't know how set it is in your area/Drs.

In terms of examinations I can only say what I've had so far as this is also my first baby! My midwife appointments have been taking bloods, urine samples, blood pressure, feeling tummy, listening to heartbeat and discussing notes. I would however think about how personal some of the things you discuss are and how comfortable you are doing that with a parent, regardless of whether you currently teach their child or not.

Hope that remotely helps and I haven't just rambled pointlessly!!

Hello, thanks so much for the reply! At my appt last week I was planning to talk to her but actually it was a different midwife so I had a good chat with her. She seems to think it won't always be the midwife who is a parent and after talking it through with her I have decided to stay with the surgery. She said if I was overdue and needed a sweep then they would arrange for it to be someone else which was reassuring :)

That's really good to hear Misskth. Glad you feel better about it now! :)

Glad you got sorted misskth, I can't imagine how uncomfortable you would have felt

We had our 20 week scan today and all was well. We're team blue, so that'll be 3 boys for us!

Yay team blue! One more and you can have your own 5 a side football team ;) hehe.

Nope, no more for me! I can't do the SPD any more :(

I think boy may x

Hi, told you i would keep you updated so I'm 17 weeks now i paid for a private scan as was too impatient to wait until my anomaly scan in may to find out the sex turns out lots of people including myself were wrong I'm having a girl and they said they have a 99.9 accuracy she said she can see a cit no penis.

I'm ecstatic as really wanted a girl , but was sure from my 13 week scan photo it was a boy i even brought a boy photo album , and started a boys name thread.

will try and post a my latest scan pics to compare to my 13 week ones but the 2d scans weren't as good quality as my NHS 13 week ones which is weird.
also had 3d and 4d .

eeeek so excited to have a girl let me know the result of your scan.x

Thanks MrsDuckie and kumber :)

Yay for all the news happening:) My 20 week scan (being done at 21 weeks) isn't until 12th May and that feels ages away! Going to have to change my username to missimpatient ;)

FFO - best of luck for tomorrow!

May - congratulations on team pink, how wonderful!

Misskth - gosh that's aaaaaaaaages!! I hope it flies in quickly for you

Congratulations kumber and may :)
My scans next Wednesday so I'll be 21 weeks :) this pregnancy is flying xx

Just an update; I had my scan this afternoon!

Everything was perfect. No developmental issues highlighted and all looked normal. Baby was well behaved, although I had to jiggle to get baby to move so we could measure the spine! Stubborn!

We also found out the gender...

We're team blue!

I always imagined having a girl when I pictured starting a family, so I'm a bit nervous about a boy, but so excited to meet him!

I also found out I have an anterior high placenta, which is why although I am feeling kicks, they are often muffled and sporadic, which sucks :( But the important thing is he's healthy and moving and happy <3

Hope everyone else's scans go well xxx

aw congratulations, and to everyone else having their scans!
Mine is next Friday! Looking forward to it, just to see baby's well and happy.
Not sure how I'll feel about finishing up the scan and walking out not knowing the gender but we're still keen to keep it a surprise!
I'll get my exciting bit on their birthday :)
Good luck to all upcoming scans! Xx

Thanks kumber, I know...so long! I am tempted to go for a private scan but keep telling myself to wait like everyone else lol!

FFO- glad all ok :)

It's worth the scan if you can afford it or one of your local ones has a sale on. I only didn't with this one because of where our holiday fell, I would be too close to my NHS scan date after and not enough weeks before, so for the sake of waiting 3 weeks I didn't get one. Had we not had the holiday, I would have definitely gotten an early one!

Exciting that everyone is starting to find out gender! (those who are choosing to!) Glad that scans are going well; always so lovely to hear xx

Mine is tomorrow. I'll be 21 weeks on Sunday. I feel nervous too; just want to see baby boy all happy and healthy growing as he should be.

Sorry to add further encouragement misskth lol... but DH and I were the epitome of impatient and had our private gender scan at 16 + 5. Obviously if you're happy to wait then do!
