September 2017 Mummas Thread!

Hello all, hope you're all doing well. How many people have found out baby's gender already? We're waiting until the 20 week scan but that won't be until May so I have no clue how I'm going to wait that long!

Hope all your bumps are growing nicely, I really need to get more involved in this site.

How many of you are on Facebook? With my first we made our own little group over there so it was easier to share and keep in touch with everyone. Just wondered if that was anything any of you might be keen on if I set it up. It'll just be for us guys and not outsiders otherwise it just gets too confusing I think.

Hi Steph,

Congratulations on twins! I'm expecting twins too! Are yours identical or fraternal?
I'm 17 weeks today and still exhausted and being sick everyday. I'm hoping it will stop soon but my consultant says with twin pregnancies it can go on for longer. Sorry for the rubbish news lol!
I also have a very prominent bump! My sis is 24 weeks pregnant and we look about the same size .

Jenny xx

I reached 18 weeks yesterday and think I felt some movement/kicks last night!
I was lying on my back supported by my pregnancy pillow with my laptop resting on my tummy, and I felt a light jab/popping about an inch or two under my navel just to the right. I stayed still and felt it a few more times in the same place. It definitely wasn't gas (suffering with IBS, I know gas lol)

This is my first pregnancy so all very new to me, but my mum said it sounds like kicking.
I'm so excited for it to happen again!

17 weeks for me today!

Maybe tmi but seriously struggling with constipation, I feel like giving birth will be a skoosh compared to this lol. apparently it's not only a common pregnancy symptom at this stage but also not being helped by being the number one side effect of the anti sickness tablets I'm on! Never suffered with it before and still not able to keep much down so can't even try the whole prune juice/more fibre thing!

Haven't felt any movement yet but my sonographer at the gender scan said my placenta was on the front wall which when I looked it up said it's an anterior placenta which I've heard can cushion any movement! Getting a lot of round ligament pain as well, I guess she's making room in there!

Mellie I would join a private Facebook group x

Is anyone else being absolutely killed with tiredness? I'm ready to curl back up in bed and sleep for the rest of the day :nap:

I get tired around 7ish now but it's not bad. I'm still having nausea though :( and can't eat certain things with it throwing up (which only started happening around 17 weeks :/) suffering with round ligament pain badly to aswell as sciatica, woke up and my legs were in so much pain.
My in laws bought us a cot, mattress and a pram travel system, and a baby bath with accessories! My dad's giving us money and my mum asking what she can buy ahaha we won't have to spend money I don't think. It's first grandchild on both sides so everyone is excited, my mil won't stop buying baby clothes! Baby gonna be better dressed then anyone i know heh. X

Kumber I'm exhausted just done three hours on box hill with the dog and kids still have swimming lessons to do I was ready for a nap by 10 ! Oh wow pb what a lucky little girl :)

haven't posted in a while but thought I'd say hello. lovely to hear all your gender news and see bumps and scans. my little bump is coming along nicely, 17 weeks and 4 days now. Starting to feel movements I think, how about any of you?

I've got the worst cold ever at the minute, along with a cough. baby number one caught it, he's had a terrible chesty cough which has really disrupted his sleep and appetite. I caught it from him and can't seem to shake it off.
waking up with sore throats and headache, with the running nose and tickly cough...urgh.

is there anything we can actually have to help?
Xx

Constipation has definitely taken its toll here with me. I feel like pushing these babies out will be way easier then pooping right now lol. Definitely understand what you mean there. I was gonna try and get some kind of stool softener but I don't know if it's safe to take while pregnant?

For me nausea has kicked in full swing from the first tri. It's oddly worse now then it was then. I'm constantly in pain and feeling sick. Anyone else feeling this way?

Annoyingly I can't make a group without inviting at least one friend. So if anyone wants to friend me on Facebook I'll make a group for people who want to join. It'll make photo sharing a lot easier anyway. Especially once babies come.
My name is "Melanie Davison." Profile photo is of me, my OH and son in the "snow" at Thomas Land and I live in Birmingham. :)

Ahhh another brummie hehe.
I don't wanna join anything on fb cos no one knows I use this site, and I wanna keep it a secret lmao. Thanks though. X

Have my 20 weeks scan on Wednesday, wow the time is flying, we're nearly half way through ladies!! :) x

There is a way to make the group a secret, where none of your friends on facebook can see you've joined or what you've posted, if people want that option?

I was going to make it secret, mainly because I don't want random people trying to join who aren't on this site. I haven't announced my pregnancy on fb yet either. I like it being secret at the moment! Haha

I'm in Birmingham too! I would prefer not to be a part of a Facebook group atm, can we still keep these threads going too?

Hope your scan goes well on Wednesday PB, ours is on Thursday, we're finding out the gender too so I'm so excited, I'll be able to do some serious shopping afterwards :)

Blueberrybaby - I went to jojo maman bebe yesterday and spent a fortune because I seemed to have gained a massive bump this week! Never thought I'd have such comfortable clothes after the last few weeks, glad I've got some bits now x

I'm happy to join a group I'm Jasmin staples profile pic is my daughter with Moana. I'm in maternity clothes from last year trying to avoid buying anymore. Will be living in maxi dresses come summer x

Hi everyone, haven't posted for ages! Will try and read back to catch up on how everyone is doing.

I'm definitely sporting a nice bump now to the point where strangers comment (which I quite like tbh!). First baby here so bought a few pairs of maternity leggings and jeans; everything else I'll just wear stretchy tops I already have or size up on anything else I get. Already bought a few tops and dresses in the next size up which will do me for a while now. I'm defo with you elf's mummy. DH and I were in Dorset over the weekend and I wore a jersey dress material maxi dress - sooo comfy already!

We had a private gender scan a few weeks ago and we're having a boy! We were honestly happy either way but we were desperate to know. My anomaly scan is next Friday (21st) but I'll be nearly 21 weeks then.

What has everyone bought/got so far then? We had a few bits as gifts from family and friends, mostly clothes, and a couple of bits we allowed ourselves to buy. But now I seem to have properly started getting bits. We have the cot bed (it was on offer at 50% off.. had to!) and things like bath thermometer, cot mobile etc. Next big one will be the buggy which my Mum is getting. What has everyone got/thinking of getting? We are mainly looking at silver cross now. Pioneer or surf 3. Mamas and Papas Ocarro was our close second choice.

Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying pregnancy so far :) xx

ClaireDoll lovely news!
StephHaddris- twins wow!

On another note can I ask all you ladies some advice. I am a teacher and at my 8 wk midwife appt I discovered my Midwife is a parent. I don't currently teach her child but there is a possibility I could in the future. At that appointment when she (equally surprised!) asked if I was ok about it I said fine because I was caught up in seeing my midwife for the first time etc. Now I have spent the last few weeks mulling it over and wanted some advice. As it is my first I have no idea what appointments are like. Would there be internal examinations? What do you think?

Hi Misskth. Just wanted to reply to this. I'm also a teacher and for me personally it would very much depend on the parent! I know some of ours would happily share information with many other Mums!! You would hope she would maintain confidentiality as she should in her role.

Did she ask if you minded like there was an alternative midwife you could opt for? So far on my midwife appointments I've seen 3 different ones (due to days off, late home births etc), but don't know how set it is in your area/Drs.

In terms of examinations I can only say what I've had so far as this is also my first baby! My midwife appointments have been taking bloods, urine samples, blood pressure, feeling tummy, listening to heartbeat and discussing notes. I would however think about how personal some of the things you discuss are and how comfortable you are doing that with a parent, regardless of whether you currently teach their child or not.

Hope that remotely helps and I haven't just rambled pointlessly!!

Hi everyone,

Hope its ok to join you all, can I be added to the 17th September please?

Hope everyone's pregnancies are going well :)
