Scan at 7wk 2days shows 2 sacs one empty ?

Hi all,
So I had a scan yesterday and was dated 7 weeks 2 days the baby was ok with a heartbeat
But the sonographer noticed an empty sac next to it I have attached photo of scan.
What does this mean? I had a bleed overnight two weeks ago but a scan in a+e showed nothing but one yolk sac and no fetal pole so I was told to come back yesterday and that's what they found.

Hi, didn't want to read and run. I honestly don't know but my head is saying maybe there was 2 and sadly one didn't make it?
Glad there was a heartbeat etc though and you have a safe baby in there

My midwife said it's really common to become pregnant with 2, but 1 doesn't make it... but most people wouldn't know because they don't have a scan until 12+ weeks.
Glad your Little bean has a HB though, good news x

It is possible that it was twins and one didn't make it, but to me it looks like a subchorionic haematoma as it is so close to the baby. This is a pocket of blood that sometimes forms when the embryo attaches to the womb and is usually gone by the 12 week scan. It could also be the cause of the bleeding you had. I've had one with my last 2 babies and all has been fine xx
