I'm a bit worried and just looking for reassurance.

On Tuesday I started spotting very pale brown and by Tuesday night there was red on wiping. I phoned the clinic on Wednesday mid day to say I was CD1. Even then I was bit unsure because my 'period' was basically a bit more than a smudge on a thin panty liner. There was a bit more on wiping but only just, there was some red and a bit brown but it was mostly mixed in with very wet cm (sorry). Today should be cd2 and my period has gone. I've only got a tiny bit of pale brown on wiping! I'm really worried that this 'period' isn't really a period. The brown spotting came on cd27 which is normal for me. It just never actually came to anything. I always have light periods compared to the norm but this was almost non existent. Would there be any reason for this? And will this affect me starting ivf? It's really stressing me out! Xx

Although I cannot answer your question Leah, I hope you get some reassurance from other ladies in similar position. I hope you're ok? Are you sure if was your af? Could it not be an implantation bleed or are the dates not possible for this? I hope if it is your af that ivf isn't delayed for me Hun. X

What's it like now? It may still be trying to start? I would phone your clinic and tell them as they need to get you to do things on the roght cycke days xx

Doesn't sound like AF, so best rearrange things with the clinic (but get their advice)

Any chance you could be pregnant? Xx

I don't think it sounds like AF. They consider CD 1 when you have full flow and it doesn't sound like you have had that. Give them as call as they may need to rearrange dates. Like the others said, any chance of pregnancy? Sounds more like implantation? Xx

Definitely not pregnant. I think that was my period, maybe I just didn't ovulate this month and that's why it was so light? I've had light periods for ages, I've even had an 8hr period but this was maybe the lightest yet. I know nothing else is going to start now. I'll phone the clinic on Monday and explain but I'm so hoping it's okay. I did tell them I have very light periods but they've never questioned it. I feel like crying now! Xx

I know how frustrating it is when things are confusing at the start of an IVF cycle. Before starting mine in January I had a load of really heavy spotting (even more so than usual) earlier than usual and I was really worried about identifying day 1, this was all due to having the scratch. For me day 1 is pretty obvious as I do get very heavy flow for a couple of days.

If what you describe has happened to you before then possibly it was your period and you did have a month without ovulating. I think the clinic should be able to do a scan to see how your lining is looking, if thin then you're at the start of your cycle if still quite thick then you possibly aren't quite there yet. Definitely ring and speak to them so they can advise, you want to make sure you start down regging on day 21. I was in a real panic at the start of my cycle and it worked out ok so try not to worry, if at all possible

I'd phone the clinic and get them to do a blood test to make sure that it's your actual period. I have light periods when I don't ovulate and have this quite often. Normally I class it as spotting as my AF normally arrives a few days later

I agree with Syd xx

Big hugs to you sweetie xx I feel optimistic for you though as maybe lining or ovulation is the issue, which should be sorted by the IVF meds. Are you having acupuncture or reflexology or anything? If nothing else it relaxes you xx

Hi,

If it is similar to ur usual period but just a little bit lighter I would still think of it as ur period. I would struggle to believe anyone who suggested that IVF isn't right up there with moving house and marriage/divorce when it comes to stress levels and I believe that there is no way it won't take its toll on our minds and bodies. It's certainly sent my usually regular cycle into free fall.

I also agree with Syd, Speak to the clinic to put ur mind at rest but the first scan will give u all the answers u need. Keep r chin up x

I didn't find the IVF too stressful myself. The lead up was worse. I tried to stay very 'zen' through the whole thing which isn't like me because I am usually a pessimistic stress head. Esp with all my fertility issues. Try not to worry.
If it is similar to what you have at times, It could be your period but would call them to be sure as you obv want to start drugs on correct day xx

Oh, I wish I was more zen about it all! What was ur secret? Xx

I had acupuncture which really helped. It has changed my mindset completely. Never thought I would be relaxed about anything ttc, esp with my history. My acupuncturist told me how important it was to think positively and stay relaxed and I was determined to do it. She did lots of points with the needles to help with that too, to help me relax etc. Also listened to zita west download every night for whole process.
I think it also got to the point where I realised the worrying was pointless, it took a long time to get to that point though. I had been ttc 5 years by the time we got this bfp xx

Hi ladies,

Thank you for replying and sorry I'm just getting back to you, just finished a run of night shifts.
I spoke to the clinic and they said as long as I bled and it wasn't a lot different from my norm then they're happy. My period is only ever light and I don't need more than a panty liner, this months was lighter but I did have red and small clots like I usually do so it must have been. I'm hoping it was just stress causing it to be lighter this month. Anything to cause me more worry!!

And I'm definitely not pregnant  xx
