Hi I am asking this for a friend who has sadly suffered a M/C. My friend went for her 12 week scan at the end of November but sadly the baby had died at 10 weeks I got a pm off her yesterday to ask for my advice about periods after M/C but felt like I could not help as my cycles have been to pot since my M/C so I said I would ask you lovely ladies. The question is When you had your M/C did you find your self bleeding longer then normal before your cycle got back to normal? She had a period over Christmas for about a week ( well she was bleeding but she is not sure if it was a proper AF) Then about 28 days later (17th January) she started bleeding again but this lasted for 2 weeks. She is on antibiotics for an infection ( not sure if antibiotics will have an effect on AF) and when she saw the dr about 2 weeks ago the dr checked everything and said it looked fine. Thanks in advance
awww i'm sorry for your friend's loss my m/c was really early (5 weeks 2 days) so that maybe why my body settled quickly- i was bleeding from the m/c for 2 weeks altho this was really light- 3 weeks after it stopped i got my period it was light too (normal for me) and lasted 3 days (normal for me). i only had one period before i got pg again but iv a feeling going off that one that i was straight back to normal. i think 8-12 weeks is the point where pregnancy hormones are the highest- even higher than 2nd and 3rd tri, so it must be a great shock to her system. it may take awhile to settle, hope it does soon for her
So sorry for your friends loss When I had my m/c I bled for 2 weeks and then got my normal af 32 days later, which lasted for 4 days ~ normal for me. As Trix said, it might just be that her hormones are taking a while to settle down again after the m/c. If it carries on she might need to get referred to a gynae specialist just to make sure all is well with her. Did she have a natural m/c or a d&c? If it was natural then she might need to go have a scan just to make sure it all came away (sorry, couldnt think of a nicer way to phrase that).
Thank you for the replies I have sent a link to my friend of this topic and she says Thank you I am not sure if she had a natural M/C or a d&c but I am sure that she said that the drs said that everything is fine now I am sure that once she joins (she is going to join PF ) she will come on to here and reply.
