Hello

I've not been on the forums for a long while as I was struggling emotionally with not conceiving. We have been ttc our first for 2 years now and have not used contraception for 2 and a half years. I have come to terms with our troubles and hope that with treatment we will be lucky enough to conceive, if not we will look into the adoption route.
I have been for my bloods and they have come back normal. Partners first semen analysis has come back this week with 2% morphology with the rest normal. He has a 2nd analysis before we can get our referral. Just wondering where the journey heads if the second results come back the same.

Hello, welcome back to the forums. Sorry to hear that youve been having a tough time. It sure is an emotional ride but I hope you will find talking to others in a similar situation of some comfort. We have been ttc for 3 1/2 years and was referred to ghe fertility clinic at the end of last year. Slightly different situation to you as my OH morphology was 4% which is considered in the "normal" range. I had an hsg and internal ultrasound after being referred and all tests have come back clear so now waiting to hear from consultant with confirmation of what route we will be taking, but assuming it will be ivf.

Hope thid is of sone assistance to you, although all hospitals/areas of the country vary. Good luck x

The next stage for me was hsg test to Check tubes.they were clear so referred for ivf now . awaiting first appointment :)

Hiya, sorry to hear that your having a rough time, we've been TTC for 3 years, I initially had all the usual bloods, an ultrasound and hsg which were all ok and hubby had two samples as first one came back with low count and only 2% morphology and due to his numbers we were referred for ICSI. x

I think the process varies on each and every person and they will advise you when you get the second sample back on what will be the next step x

Sorry to hear you have been struggled. It is a really emotional journey.

I can't help with the next steps (I'm just starting out now with the blood tests so am further behind) but wanted to wish you good luck xx

IUI might be a good option with low morphology. 2% of several million should be enough but the good ones have to fight their way through all the deformed ones who are getting in the way and slowing them up. Sorry if that sounds horrible, I find it a bit grim thinking about it as my DH has just 6% normal forms which is supposed to be in the normal range but doesn't sound good! He has been taking Wellman Conception vitamins which has improved his sperm and I've heard others say the same. It contains zinc & selenium and things that form the structure of the healthy sperm.

With IUI they spin the sample to collect just the good ones and put them in a liquid that is easier to swim through and put it straight into your uterus to meet the egg without any of the usual difficulties! Its less invasive than IVF, only 1 injection and no egg extraction!
