Hi Girlies

Been to hospital day unit today to be monitored as i hadnt felt the baby move harly at all in 24 hours!!

They finally managed to pick up the heartbeat on the monitor which they said was fine, but she then went on the measure my bump which is 4-5 weeks bigger than it should be, she got a second opinion and got the Dr to have a look, they have referred me for another scan and are going to ring me tomorrow.

As soon as i left i looked at my notes and in them it says feels like ? polyhydramnios - difficult to identify fetal parts!!!! as soon as i got home i googled it and am now worrying myself sick its to do with having to much fluid and can be to do with abnormalities with the baby!!

Im so scared and i no im going to worry myself sick until the scan which shoud be tomorrow or friday!

Has anyone else heard of this or know anyone thats had it???? :(

relax! that's an order :)

the difficult to feel fetal parts bit just means that it feels like there is lots of water ratehr than a big baby - NOT that there is anythign wrong with bubs.

Yes - polyhydramnios CAN be linked to problems with bubs but it is usually unrelated AND at 26 weeks you have already had a normal anomaly/20week scan yes? and this would pick up all the major things anyways :)

get off google for a start - I know it is tempting but dangerous iunless you have enough medical knowledge to know if what you are reading is accurate or just scary :) try and relax and all will be clear at the scan :) When they ring tomorrow explain you are worried and would liek to speak to someone - if it is just an admin person calling then ring and speak to your midwife :) the internet is not the best place to get individual medical advice

let us know how you get on.xx

Aww  So sorry you've been so worried

I haven't heard of it personally but I agree with smile, that the fact you have a good anomaly scan is a positive thing.

I would ring your midwife to lay your mind at rest as I'm sure it is something they want to monitor as opposed to something they are seriously worried about  I know it is easy to say don't worry when it isn't your bubs   But I'm going to say it anyway

I know its natural to worry but try not too, there are quite a few people around who've been told they have excess fluid and have been worried sick, only to have a perfectly normal natural birth.

And i agree, google is great at telling you lots of things that make you worried sick! Hopefully if they were that worried they would have explained to you at the time what was going on.

hope everyting goes well, i know its impossible not to worry but the girls are right and baby was checked thorougjly before and ok, wishing u all the best xx

Listen to smile's post, its very wise words, very best wishes for the scan, they really should have spoke to you more rather than just wrote notes, very best wishes
