Just started tracking my ovulation this month. It was pretty neat to see it get darker and darker. I started taking 2 tests a day when the lines were more prominent because I didn't want to miss my ovulation.

On cycle day 10 and 11 (which was the 19th and 20th) it was a positive OT, right? Then, as you can see, at 8 pm (last night) the line got lighter. Am I reading that correctly?

The last time hubby and I had sex was on cycle day 9 (the 18th). Unfortunately, when I had a positive OT, he was at work (he is a firefighter). I was pretty bummed.

Do you think there is a chance we might still get pregnant? What if we had sex today?

I'm so confused on how these ovulation strips work and what day I REALLY ovulated so I can keep track! haha

Short Version:
CD 9 negative, had sex twice. Was I fertile?
CD 10 positive, hubby at work
CD 11 positive then negative 6 hours later, hubby at work
CD 12 would sex here be beneficial?

Any help would be great!! <3

You need to test ideally between 10am and 5pm. Not sure about evening readings. It does look like you had a positive on 19th and 20th. Just because you have a surge it doesn't mean you ovualte that day. It can be 12-36 hrs after. So having sex before the positive is really important as well as the day or two after it. cd9 you were very fertile and today you may very well still be fertile.

They look like positives. But like Sunflower has said, you will have ovulated after that surge that shows up on the tests. usually 12-36 hours. If they'reW read correctly too. Depending on your age the time between the surge and ovulation usually gets shorter. You may have just made it on the 18th.

And I'd say it would be worth having sex today or tonight just incase. Once an egg is released it lasts up to 24 hours so it's best to have sperm waiting really. There could have been some from the 18th waiting. Depending on how much you want to spend it may be worth going for the digital ones. I hated opks so much, trying to figure out if it was positive or not. The advanced ones are great, but expensive. Fx! Xx

Thanks ladies :) I appreciate your responses. I am 28 years old by the way if that helps.

The test kit I got did say to test after 11 am and evening tests will be more accurate. I tried test in the evening unless I knew I wasn't going to be home to test. I did test this morning for the heck of it and it was negative again, so I'm assuming I ovulated yesterday since I don't have a surge anymore?

I plan on having sex tonight just in case!

I'll try out the digital ones in a couple months if no luck! :) They do sound like they would be easier.

That's not how it works. You get a surge and the opk is positive...just because you no longer have a surge it doesn't mean you have ovulated. The surge is a trigger for ovulation but ovulation can actually happen up to 48 hours after a positive. Does that make sense? You should dtd today for sure.

That does make sense, thank you! So getting a negative OT after a positive OT means nothing?

Definitely dtd. You could ovulate up to 36 hours after you get the positive line. Sunflower is completely right in how she's explained it.

The negative OpK after a positive just means your LH surge that triggers an egg to release and you to ovulate is over. Then anytime up to 36 hours after that, the egg will hopefully release. So I'd get dtd just incase xx

Thanks guys!! It makes a lot more sense now. I can't wait to go home and dtd!! hehe.

So no one really every knows the actual day of ovulation, do they?

Yep it means nothing. It's actually more helpful as you know you can isolate the surge and count 48 hrs from there. The egg can then live for 24 hr so dtd for a few days after the pos.

I used a ovusense , It tracks your temp without having to take your temp with a thermometer , it predicts your fertile time, tells you when you're going to ovulate and when you did ovulate,
I got my BFP 5 times off it, after trying for a year and not having any luck, I found out I was ovulating later then I thought. I cant rate it highly enough.

This is what the charts look like

How does it track yr temp without a thermometer?

Its a sensor that you wear in your va-jay-jay at night, So It is like a thermometer, except that you dont have to take it, at the same time every day without moving/ breathing/ opening your eyes/ standing on your head and reciting the alphabet backwards.
All you you need is to wear it for a minimum of 4 hours.
Its a life saver!

Wow! If you sleep with something up there there's not a risk of infection?

No, Its medical grade silicone, Same as a menstrual cup and a lot safer then a tampon.

Im not normally One to preach but I genuinely don't think I would have ever got pregnant without it!
OPKs are confusing,
And I work shifts so Temping just doesn't work x

But how does it tell you that you are ovulating by temperature as the temp rise doesn't happen til after ovulation?

It Predicts it after a few cycles, I'll tell you when you're in your ovulation window then confirms it a couple of days later,

The first couple of cycles it'll give you a estimate of when you'll be fertile, and you can see when youll ovulate from your temp
