Bit of a whingey one tonight sorry loves.

40+6 today (Sunday) and massively fed up! My son was a week late, went into labour with him at 40+6 and had him at 41 weeks exactly. Getting quite down about all the 'haven't you had the baby' texts/calls etc and feel like a bit of a failure that this one is going to be even later than their big bro.

So far baby is only 2/5 engaged and permanently wedged in my ribs, I've tried walking, bouncing/circles on my ball, crawling about on all 4s, going up and down the stairs but can't seem to persuade baby to come down. Feels like I'm going to be pregnant forever!

Aww didn't want to read and run, has the midwives advised you of an induction or maybe getting a sweep? It's so horrible to think that you get so excited for the due date that to go past potentially by another two weeks is so overwhelming especially when you have it tough for the first 40weeks never mind another 2 xx

I know I'm so lucky and just need to wait but it's been hard with a toddler to run after with having SPD & sciatica. I've got the midwife tomorrow and she'll offer a sweep. I don't know whether to take it or not. I know I should just wait until baby is ready but the idea that it might just move things along is quite appealing now.

Awww Ams I feel the same, and my due date is not till Wednesday. With my daughter though I was in labour at this stage so fighting the disappointment today that nothing seems to be happening. Don't think engagement is anything of an indicator really, midwife told me that commonly with 2nd babies they don't engage until in labour.
I have a midwife appt at 40+1 on thurs & midwife said they are not usually keen on doing a sweep then as it often doesn't work... But I will probably try to convince her, it's so infuriating.
Chin up x

Saw my midwife at 40+2 and she said she could try a sweep for me if I wanted but seeing as baby is barely engaged there wasn't much point. Plus I've always just gone with baby coming when they're ready so I'm a bit loathe to try sweeps etc. Got to talk induction tomorrow which I really don't want :(

It must be rubbish if people are hassling you. In fairness though, baby doesn't have to be engaged to come quickly - my daughter was only 1/5 engaged the morning my waters broke, and arrived after a 5 hour labour really quickly.

Fingers crossed that things start moving soon, getting to 40 weeks is long enough but ever day over u get more disheartened. Good luck x

Still nothing so will see what the midwife says later today. Ideally I'd love to just leave it and have baby come in their own time but the longer he/she is in there the more I worry. Had quite a time getting my son out (enormous head - never engaged) so that's playing on my mind quite a lot.

Second babies don't typically remain engaged until labour so try not to feel disheartened and your cervix can change in a matter of minutes, so even if you aren't favourable for a sweep at midday, you can still go into labour a few minutes later. Babies choose their birthday, just try and stay relaxed and let oxytocin do its job. Not long to go now, each day that passes takes you a day closer to your baby

Hope midwife appt was/will be useful today.
The woman in tesco said to me this morning 'still pregnant then?!' I'm like I have two days till my due date still thank you very much lol.
I did have a horrid dream last night that all my plans for water birth, midwife unit etc were ruined as baby was over 42 weeks though :-(
That's what I just keep saying to myself mrsTLC, things can happen at any moment! Baby will be here soon Ams x

Going overdue is completely pants. I hated all the texts too. My son took the biscuit and went 16 days late (induced at 14 days late). He never engaged, couldn't even be bothered to go anywhere near the exit point.

My daughter was only 5 days late but her labour started suddenly. Hopefully it'll all kick off soon for you - try and relax until then :-)

Took the sweep. 2 cm floated and fully effaced but she couldn't stretch it. Has some pinky/brown mucous then some bright red blood and back to pinky mucous again. Tightenings every 5 minutes or so for he last 90mins/2 hours so hopefully things are moving in the right direction :)

I was extremely harassed, I went 13 days over, J being born on 14h day.

Next time Im not telling a due date for that sole purpose, its awful. No one wants baby to come more than you. The pressu is immense going overdue.

I had a awsome labour though, hope yours comes soon.
xxx

I told people I was due end of November. But it hasn't stopped it!
I know everyone is excited and that's so lovely but man I wish he/she was here and the endless 'I've got a feeling the today' messages and then the follow ups when they don't come is getting quite dry. I really hope these tightenings are things kicking off.

Fingers crossed it will have started things off for you - looking forward to hearing about whether your little bundle is pink or blue :-) x

Hope it's not much longer for you now either lovely xx

Keep checking back to see if things have got exciting for you yet! I'm sitting here on my due date feeling cross lol was spoilt with DD1, that's the problem! Planning on lots of sexy time tonight in the hope that Spurs her on.. X

I hope you aren't waiting much longer poppet. 9 days over and back at the midwife waiting for my sweep. If this doesn't work I think I'm being induced on Friday although I'd really rather not be!

Hope the sweep helps! At least you know you won't go longer than Friday though... I don't fancy induction either though so totally know what you mean x
