Finally going to write my birth story at the time I get most things done these days with my nocturnal baby! The middle of the night!
I was 38+5 on the Thursday & had convinced myself sitting around hoping baby would come was pointless as I'd probably be overdue anyway. So I arranged to take my friends little boy to the local childrens centre with her to keep me occupied! Everyday in pregnancy ive made sure I had breakfast for LOs sake, this day I was late so didn't bother.
I had been having multiple trips to the loo with diaorhea (sp?) all night but hadn't thought anything of it.
10am- So off I waddled in the boiling heat to meet my friend was stood talking to her for a bit then suddenly thought 'Shit...I'm wetting myself! & rushed off to the loo absolutely mortified that I wet myself. It wasn't until I got in the loo that I realized it wasn't stopping & it wasn't wee! I tried to clean myself up a bit & realized there was green streaks in it. Cue me panicking about there being meconium & her having not moved much that morning.
I went out to my friend & said 'I think I have to go my waters have gone' luckily one of the staff overhead & sat me down to think rationally and not just rush off in a panic. I rang labour ward who said to go straight over, so then rang OH at work to come collect me, he insists I sounded really calm but I felt so panicked!
11am.. we went home to collect the bags then went over to the hospital, I spent most of the 20 minute journey poking my bump trying to get baby to move. By the time we got to the hospital I was convinced something had gone wrong, got to triage and went to the loo, found lots of blood. Cue more panic! I told the receptionist I was now bleeding to & got called straight through. My blood pressure was 180/110 apparently! Midwife finally got the Doppler out & I hear los heartbeat, I can't explain how I felt knowing she was ok!
12- I got hooked up to the CTG monitor & midwife examined me, said I was 1cm dialated and it was definitely my waters which had meconium in them. She said I was having regular tightenings on the monitor, but I wasn't feeling them.
1.30- the Dr came in and said they were going to induce me as they didn't know why baby was stressed h had pooed, So got moved to delivery suite & put on the monitor for an hour, at this point I was was seriously regretting not eating breakfast! So sent my OH to get me a sandwich.
3pms- I started to feel the tightenings every 5 mins, but they still wanted to speed things up so put me on the hormone drip, contractions got stronger & was getting them every 2 mins.
7pm- I finally gave in and had gas & air after 4 hours of contractions.
8pm- the midwives said that babys heart rate was dropping with contractions so called drs, they said they would leave it for now & see how things progressed in an hour or so.
9pm- I was examined and still only 2-3cms so they decided to perform a c section. I was taken to theatre straight away, felt like it took ages to get the spinal in & it flipping hurt!
10.04 pm on Thursday 26th July my beautiful little girl was delivered weighing 6lb 2oz we were team yellow & really thought it was a boy so was a massive surprise! I cried my eyes out.
We spent 2 days in hospital before coming home & we're settling in now. Shes a nocturnal baby who sleeps all day and is wide awake at night! She is so so perfect I can't stop looking at her!
My section scar is infected so am pretty sore but hoping it'll heal up soon.
Just a few mins old.
Relaxing in hospital
Ready to come home.
