Old wife's tales abt bringing on labour!

Sounds terrible so glad I've never drank it. Tbh don't think I could eat seven fresh pineapples either lol. A sweep sounds so painful really not wanting one of those either. I really hope I go early this time like I did with my others xx

I didnt know of any side affects if i did i wouldnt of gone anywhere the stuff at all x

Yeh lots of people never realise just someone will say it brings on labour so they try it, assuming its safe x

I remeber buying it frim boots pharmacy you would think that they would question as to what u want it for especially if your heavily pregnant which i was

Yeh they should, they wouldn't even sell me cough sweets when pregnant! xx

My sister in-law drank orange juice and caster oil to bring on labour. This was about 20 years ago. It just made her very very ill. Chucking both ends, she was. For days. Didnt work either, lol.

When I ways at a birthing class on Saturday the midwife told us hot curries and bumpy car rides don't help. She did suggest raspberry leave tea from 32 weeks and sex though.

Someone mentioned sage oil the other day. Does anyone know anything abt it? Xx

My nan told me a story about taking castor oil when she was overdue with my uncle, she spent al night sat on the loo and throwing up over the sink. Not something I will be trying.
Though I've heard raspberry leaf tea is suppose to ripen your cervix and shouldn't be taken until at least 36 weeks my midwife says, and as I'm be induced at 37 weeks I'm going to start drinking it today in the hope it'll help prevent the induction from failing.

Evening primrose oil taken orally and inserted on cervix help soften and ripen it ready for labour making it a quicker process/possibly prevent going too overdue, but won't actually induce labour.

Parsley tea can stimulate uterine contractions! but can just cause false labour/braxton hicks if your not ready for real labour.....

I had fresh pineapple and both times my waters broke the next day so I'm maintaining it worked for me.. My friend had clary sage n a bath and rubbed it on her bump and contractions started almost immediately after the bath lol

I've saved my clary sage oil until today (due date), I'm planning a bath and massage later! Fx. :)

I know most of the old wives tales don't work... but I'll give a few of them a go... just for the fun... same as trying to guess the sex before we had the 20 week scan.

I will give the raspberry leaf tea a go... along with the pineapple and the bumpy ride... can buy a few fresh pineapples (and maybe a picnic with hubs) and set off into the country for the afternoon in the landrover :) might be quite nice if its sunny. my last bit of off roading lol

You need at least 7 whole fresh pineapples to get any of the hormone that does anything, you would be as likely to start labour off with an apple, so I didn't bother! x

Gillyboos let us know if it works xx

I dropped it! Had a massive cry about it. Contemplated rolling on the floor in it. :(
Ordered some more on next day delivery (cost more than the sodding oil!), will be trying it tomorrow after my sweep. Will let you know. X

I've had a bath, it sent me to sleep. Whether it works or not is another thing, definitely relaxed me! I've mixed some with sweet almond oil and massaged that in to my bump and lower back. I do feel less achey, which I didn't expect. On that front alone I'll keep working. Be warned...it reeks! Very medicinal.

Didn't have much of a sweep as cervix was closed, cervix is flat and baby engaged properly now, things are heading in the right direction. I think like anything, these things will work if your body is ready, and mine seems only partly ready. I'm going to carry on using it as I've found it relaxing. Xx

I have bought some but not trying it just yet. Baby fully cooked next wk so wk after I'll start trying things.
Anything that's nice an relaxing is worth a go. I think with most of these things like u said unless your body is ready it's not going to work.
I'm dreading having a sweep so I hope that I go b4 then.
You never know though Hun you may go into labour tonight. My fingers are crossed for you xxxx

My sweep honestly wasn't bad. It feels weird, more because the midwife is all up in there, but it wasn't painful and not really uncomfortable. Fx you don't get that far though. :) xx

Starting at 37wks I:

Inserted evening . primrose capsules up my fluff
Had lots of sex, curries and drove down bumpy roads
Bounced like a demon on my ball twiddling my nips
Put clary sage in my bath then at 39wks rubbed the stuff on my bump
Drank raspberry tea and took capsules
Got hubby to massage all the reflexology points daily
Had a massage professionaly
Didnt eat pineapple as apparently you need to eat 25 of them to be effective
And on due date my cervix was still high and hard and I got induced.

This time I am not doing any of it and letting baby come when it wants to!
