I ladies I just found out I'm pregnant following my first IVF cycle & I now have terrible although docs say 'mild to moderate' OHSS.
Has anyone else had this & how long does it take to go away?
I was sick all day yesterday & I'm so uncomfortable docs have given me something for the sickness & pain but I don't want to take too many drugs.
I'm 4 weeks now, so excited but this OHSS is getting me down.
I'm drinking Whey protein and Gatorade plus eating anything with protein in it.
Any advise from fellow sufferers I'd really appreciate :)

I've never heard of ohss but just wanted to say big congrats on the big fat positive!!!
Really hope you start to feel better soon xx

I have no idea what it is so I had to have a look. On wikipedia it mentions keeping an eye on fluid input and output as you seem to be prone to dehydration with it. Have you been given any advice? Are they wanting you back for regular tests?

Hope you are ok xxxxxxxxxxxx

Hiya Buggy, nice to see you've moved into Tri1 :good:

I hope you don't mind me replying, but typically they don't do embryo transfer if the patient suffers OHSS because it is triggered by hCG and therefore pregnancy only makes it worse as the pregnancy progresses.

I wouldn't even worry about the protein so much anymore as long as you are getting enough for the baby but focus more on drinking non-stop.

If you saturate your body with fluid, it maximises the body's efficiency at removing fluid and that is what OHSS basically is - fluid.

Just drink all the time, but make sure you are getting electrolytes also.

You need to do everything because it can impact the pregnancy.

I hope you feel better soon xx
