*November 2017 thread!* Think I could be in here! Eek!

NIPT is Non Invasive Prenatal Testing. They extract cell free DNA from mother's blood hence non invasive. whereas before you would have been offered CVS or amnio

Sorry your sickness is back Starchild, hope it is very short lived!

NIPT is non-invasive prenatal testing. A blood test such as Harmoney. SAFE or NIFTY test. My trust does the SAFE test which is99% sensitive, and doesn't carry the miscarriage risk of amnio or CVS.

My risk is high based on the PAPP-A level on my screening blood test along with my age. Came as quite a shock.

Redbear totally understand why you don't want screening, ultimately when you know you want to keep the baby regardless it doesn't make a great deal of difference. My husband has Asperger's and likes to know EVERYTHING in advance (couldn't even cope with not knowing the gender last time round!) so we definitely need to know as much as we can in advance.

Oh I 100% agree with you I bet most people want the test so like you say you can prepare and get ready etc. I assumed I was a rare case of turning it down just because I don't cope well with stress. I'm actually fine once I'm in the situation but leading up to it I'm terrible.
I hope your coping ok with the news it's such a shame they can't get you in on a Friday it seems a bit daft really. I do hope they get you in as soon as they can.
Try to think even with a 1/12 that's 11 chances everything is perfectly fine xx

So I did some reading which I regret.... my high risk is based on a very low PAPP-A level (anything less than 0.5 MoM is considered high risk, and mine is 0.25. Which it seems is associated with a whole load of crappy things even in the absence of chromosomal problems like Downs. So looks like I'm at increased risk of second trimester miscarriage, still birth, infant death, intrauterine growth restriction, preterm delivery and pre-eclampsia.

Freaking out a bit. We tried for so long, this baby is SO desperately wanted. The knowledge that there is significantly increased risk of us losing it is very hard to handle.

Got on my way home from a day out in London meeting up with 4 mummies and toddlers from when I was on here first time with my Daughter!!!

Spellarina please dont google. Im glad you and hubby are on the same page through.

Drama of new house take1 - novhead oh locks us iut!with the keys in the kitchen so i had to get a locksmith roubd! Nightmare!!!

spallerina google is the worst, try not to get ahead of yourself until you have all the facts. I know it must be difficult. Sending my love to you xxx

I refused all the tests with my daughter, I was just grateful to be pregnant.

This time we're having the normal NHS testing, as we've got our daughter to think about and need to be prepared.

I agree Google is a minefield. Thankfully I know how to make sense of a paper and what information is worth paying attention to, and after reading for a while I found a paper which summarised a whole load of studies, and that was marginally more reassuring, but it seems I am at very definitely increased risk of lots of things aside from the chromosomal disorders.

Hoping I can file it away in my head and enjoy our holiday next week, we've desperately needed this break and been looking forward to it for ages.

Failing that I'll just spend the entire week eating cake..l.l

Sorry to hear you're going through this stressful period spallerina, wish I had the right words to say. Praying for a healthy baby xxx

Anyone got any tips to help relieve achy boobs?! Or is it a case of plodding along?!
How many weeks are you now Mayflower?!

Still no scan date here... Really hoped it would arrive in the post today, at this rate I'll be able to have the gender scan at the same time!!

I've got achy boobs too rachelb, so will be keeping an eye out for ideas too!

Anyone got anything nice planned for the bank holiday?

X

Have you run your local unit where you would have scan or rung your midwife?!

I told my sisters today that they're going to be aunties, one was making jokes, one didn't actually understand for a few minutes and the other cried! I got their reactions on camera too, such a special moment x

I have only just had my booking in appointment (at 11+5), so if I haven't heard anything by mid next week I will call. Seems to be the norm for round here, I had the 12 week scan for my daughter at 13+4 (going by lmp) but I was actually 14+1. It's pretty crappy!!

I'm 13 weeks today! I've booked a gender scan for 27th May and have my 20 week scan on 24th June.

I know in my area they won't scan you if your over 13+6 but I suppose they wouldn't know that until the scan , I'm panicking as I'm 12 weeks today and I haven't had my booking appointment yet
