Nightfeeds Chat Thread

Positive thinking Kelly!
Well I'm yet to try the dummy. She's not asleep but she's not crying, just tossing and turning so I'm leaving her...going to try going to bed in a mo...!

Why have you stopped feeding from the breast, spin?

We had a crap evening if crying & E's woken up for a feed at midnight, which is unusual. Hope she settles ok & doesn't cry again. I could really use some sleep!

Oh no up for first feed. This never happens, first feed isn't usually until at least 3... I'm dreading the rest of the night ahead ;-( how's everyone else getting on? Xxxx

Up for first feed too! Knew it'd be early as he didn't take much at 10.30 :-(

First feed for us, despite going to bed an hour later he always wakes up at 1.30! Its like he's got a little alarm.

I usesd to think M was the sans Sara.. Wake at 3:30 and 7.. But this has thrown that all out. He can barely stay awake himself! Xxx

Up for first feed too. I'm quite pleased as she's gone 3 and a half hours in her basket, not a bad stretch at a week old :-) lets hope this pattern continues for the rest of the night although she's wide awake now! Xxx

We're up for first feed! In fairness I never managed to get in to a deep sleep so not that tired x

Too much damage. I'm crying in pain during feeds despite taking paracetamol and ibuprofen, plus back to bleeding nipples. I need a break.

Just done feed 1. Omg how much easier is bottle feeding. Feed done in twenty mins. Normally takes at least an hour. But now I'm pumping and trying to rock lo to sleep as she won't take the dummy

Oh and this will make u chuckle I put breast shells on so I didn't get soaked while I fed her.
bloody put one on upsidedown. So worse off then if I'd just have used pads LOL

We just up for first feed :-) he done well tonight. Hope he goes back down well too.

The dummy took persistence with my LO. He only just taking it really. And there are different types you could try x

Ouch spin, that doesn't sound like fun. Make sure you rub breast milk on them to heal them. It's better than any cream you can buy.
Well, its 5:30 & E has decided its time to get up...great! Suppose I can't complain, at least she's smiling & not crying!

Nappy change and first feed at 4am ish not bad!! (Slept from about midnight I think) 4 hours is amazing. Sadly cosleeping as wouldn't settle on her own due to cold. Feed taking longer too. X

I was just about to say no Sophie-Jane it's 4:30 don't do it... But I see you're in Germany! Haha... Not that 5:30 is an acceptable time to get up either of course!

Well date my first feed he went off again quickly thank god and now is up again so not toooo bad.. However, bloody oh has got a dodgey stomach so has been getting up most of night waking me up (how selfish!) haha.

Oh Spin I remember when I had to have a day of expressing.. It actually is even more of a nightmare logistically though isn't it! Bottles are sooo quick aren't they! Max drains his in 5 mins flat! As u say though unless they take a dummy (he won't) then it will be harder to get them to drop back off again tho! Xxxx

I find expressing annoying. Tried yesterday as wanted to keep supply going while she was feeding less but it was tedious holding the pump... She then decided to feed like mad so I didn't express much anyway. X

Ha ha Claire! Am back in bed feeding her & hoping she'll fall asleep afterwards. We'll see!

I've actually got a friend who breast feeds & her baby only sucks for 5 mins on one side every 4 hours! Couldn't believe it when I saw it. Now that is one efficient sucker!

Oh wow really!! Every breastfeed I do is easily an hour and even then he never 'takes himself off to show he's full', he either falls asleep or I take him off coz I need to leave/wee/eat/live! I honestly believe that if I would let him stay on my boob all day, he would. I can at least tell now when he's feeding or just sucking for comfort, so that's when I take him off. Xxx

First time I got up as OH fed at 11.30 and 2.30. :-) im still hoping to sleep more though! X

You should have got OH on here for a chat Kelly! Lol!

E feeds 15 mins each side, Claire. I 90% of the time have to take her off as she never stops once she's had her fill like all the books say she will!
She went back down at 6 & I'm getting up now but she's still asleep. Have got the chimney sweep coming between 8-10 so I'd better be dressed I suppose!

Seren is a really quick feeder, she only spends about 5 mins per boob and during the day she usually only takes one boob per feed but she'll cluster feed in the evening and night. It's a complete contrast to DS who would feed for hours so of course I panic that she's not getting enough!

As for last night she only had me up twice :-) first time at 1.30 and she was cluster feeding so we were up for an hour and a half. Second time at 5.20 and I fed her laying down and we both dozed off so been having lovely snuggles since. 7 hours sleep in all for me, woohoo! Xxx
