Nightfeeds Chat Thread

Sorry LD and Fliss for your nights, hope you're now catching some zzzzs. Ellesbells yay for 5 hours, am sure she'll learn to move it back to bedtime.

Feel bad to say but we're having our best night yet so far (fingers crossed it's not over yet!) she went down at 10 and woke up at 4.40!

Hope everyone catches up on sleep soon x

Ill give you something to laugh about to cheer you up! Hannah was stirring and I wasn't sure if it was for food or dummy so I decided to try and put dummy back in! After a few moments in the dark I was getting annoyed that it wouldn't go in- she was making squeaky noises so her mouth had to be open, I then shone my phone into the cot and realised that I was trying to put it in her ear, poor child! Anyway she had a very small feed in the end- don't think she was really hungry as was only on the boob about 2 minutes before pulling off and spitting milk at me- she just wanted boob for comfort rather than a dummy in her ear :) x

Took 3hrs to get him to settle from 10pm but at 2am and 5am, both were only 15-20 minute feeds!! my god what a difference it makes to the usual 2hrs! :D

Loopylou, haha, poor hannah! dint worry, you're not the first and im sure you wont be the last lol

Lol loopylou! I was wondering the other day what new mums did without smartphones! Not only are they good for pf/Xmas shopping during night feeds, but I use mine as a torch all the time! X

I know- so useful, means I can check if she has drifted off without disturbing her with big light, also use it for latching in etc- I'd be lost without it x

Had awful night, 2.5 hrs sleep in small chunks... urg! Meeting up with other mummies today so wrestled jess into a nice outfit, putting matchsticks in my eyes and heading off soon.

Think jess is in another growth spurt as I am not keeping up with milk again. I've got irrational jealousy of you spurters and leakers!!! Jess gets very angry with empty boob, so it was a tricky night.

Chloe and ellesbelles- that's fab having such good nights!!

Sorry you had a bad one fliss - I ended up with Emily sleeping on my chest again as she wouldn't settle! Tempted to call the gp as could it be reflux. Just weird how night before she slept on her back. She does get hiccups a lot and laid here know sounds wheezy which can be reflux. I guess these things are trial and error.

15 min feeds is good pippa - I'm finding Emily only does 5 to 10 now but seems content, I always wonder if she's had enough due to giving formula too.

Ha Lou that did make me chuckle :) I always use my phone as a torch for latch and seeing what I'm doing, also got a night light off amazon for 3 quid! X

Got Hannah weighed this morning and she has put on another 12 ounces in last 9 days so she is now 11 pounds 5 ounces at 3 weeks old so obviously doing something right lol xx

Think I'm going to rejoin this thread. Henry is nearly 13 weeks and hasn't slept for more than 2 and a half hours in WEEKS now. I hate all this stuff about leaps, growth spurts etc because I could easily live with a week of crappy sleep while it happens but Henry's never gets better afterwards. Really fed up, thought we'd be getting more sleep by now :-( fingers crossed for a decent night for all of us!!

It's midnight, Henry went down at 10:15 and he's woken up 4 times already. I've given up and come downstairs with him because hubby woke him up snoring AGH. When will my child ever sleep?! I don't even care about him sleeping through the night, 4 hours in a row would do me fine!

It's taken me an hour so far to settle lo- that bits normally the easy bit 'sigh ' lol x

I hate this time of night..LO is hard to settle. Cries for.no reason for a good couple of hours. she wide awake now, but no sign of sleeping. *sigh*oh dear oh dear. xxx

What is with these babas?? Not wanting to go down seems to be the trend...
I hope we all get a little sleep tonight, I agree 4 hours would be heaven!!

Sleeeeep...i need sleeep haha.
making progress i think. all is quiet for now. but by the time she sleeps shes usually due a feed. xxx

I don't know what to do, am sure Emily has reflux :( happily sleeping on my chest but as soon as I put her down the grunts then cries start. I can't stay awake all night but can I safely sleep with her on me? I can't even do the side sleeping as being flat hurts her :(

Hope your all having better nights x

Lo just woke for a feed! So got just under 3 hours once she finally settled- however she's just done a poo so will have to wake her up properly to change her therefore the million dollar question is will she go back down easily?! Hope you are all having good nights xx

I admit I have gone to sleep
with lo on my chest like this a few times, prob not the safest but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do for some sleep! Have you tried putting lo on her side then sleeping on your side curled round her in the recommended co sleeping position? Me and lo have also done this when we've fallen asleep feeding (I sound like a terrible mum!) and being on her side seems to help with wind - might work for reflux too?

Hope all you ladies having a rough night sleep soon x

Were in the wide awake club too :( LM woke at just after 3 and weve been up ever since. Usually I just ride it out with her and wait for her to settle in my bed, but my stomach hurts so bad and I keep having to go to the toilet, so have cone down stairs and put the telly on instead. Shes fine now (bloody typical!) while Im sat on the loo trying to keep it together lol :(

I think with reflux side sleeping can definitely help but has to be on the right I believe. That way the windpipe is higher. (Correct me if I'm wrong someone! )

Hannah would not go down either last night but finally fell asleep with us downstairs at 11pm. Then did dream feed at 12am and she sleep well til 5.30am. Then again til 8.15 so I feel like a new woman as been terrible lately. X

Definitely not a terrible mum! I do the same co-sleep position post feed part of the night! It means we both get a better sleep and I don't spend another hour post feed trying to get him to settle in Moses basket!
