..our NHS Trust have recently started to refuse telling couples what sex their babies are going to be. Various rumours about why this happened including that they got sued for getting it wrong with one couple

This is my second, so I have everything I need to get started with anyway and am not too bothered about waiting til the big day to find out. If it turns out to be a girl then I'm sure she'd be able to live her first few days in blue :D

Just wondered if anyone's Trusts where they live have stopped telling you what you're having? Most people seem to still be finding out at 20 weeks if they want (this is the scan we found out we were expecting a boy with Harry!)

My DD was born in Surrey 9 years ago and they had a very strict non-telling policy.

Here in the Leeds area they will tell you if you want to know. My scan is at 11.15 and we don't want to find out! I feel in the minority thought!!

C it wont be because they told someone the wrong sex as that happens all the time, couple are always told that you need to allow for human error when prediccting the babys gender by ultrasound, the method can never be 100% all of the time.
The most likely reason they stopped it is because some religions favour a certain sex of baby (ie. a boy) and if they find out they are having a girl then they very often have a late termination merely because of the babys gender.
If you really want to know and cant wait until the birth then i would suggest you get a private gender scan :D .

We are going through the same. My parents (first grandchild) were saying how the shops had NO gender neutral clothes. So yesterday i went shopping with my Mum and we got loads of stuff.

I initially wanted to find out but OH was adamant that he did not want to know. Now i am looking forward to the surprise. I do think it is a boy though!

Hi I found out with all of mine and I'm going to find out this time (3rd Aug). There are 2 hospitals here in different counties tho, and the one I go to will tell you the sex if you want to know but the other one wont.

Here in West Lothian we only get 1 scan at 12 weeks unless there is a problem, and even then they do not tell you the sex.

I went to babybond for a gender scan to find out I'm having a boy. xxxx

im butting in again from 1st trimester  i have a scan on tuesday i will be 13 weeks exactly i was wondering if anyone knows if they can tell the sex of the baby then or if its too early i cant remember with my other two how far on i was when i found out.

In my hospital they won't tell you as they don't want the responsiblity as I was told parents have had blown out arguments and fights in the scan room cos of it..anyway I will have a private gender scan as I really want to decorate the nursery rom up in a certain scheme before the baby's born. I think its a girl but hubby thinks its a boy, ah well it can only be one or the other lol..

my hosp get us to fill a form out so if their wrong theres noting u can do :) cause it says on there about they dont always get it right and can be wrong.
