New mum to be pregnancy classed as high risk

Hi I am 26 I was born with congenital heart disease and I am nearly 6 weeks pregnant with my first baby. I have been told already that I will be monitored closely and the baby will also be watched by the fetal medicine team to make sure that they don't have the same condition as myself.

I was born with a atrial septal defect and had open heart surgery at 2years old. I was classed as high risk pregnancy even tho asd isn't hereditary. I had extra scans and was consultant led. Had my son in feb and he is fine. I'm also 12 weeks pregnant with my 2nd and will still have a fetal echo at 24 weeks but they don't think I'll have to be consultant led this time as my 1st pregnancy was fine. It means you'll get extra care which for your 1st pregnancy is always a bonus !! Xx

I was born with an atrial ventricular septal defect (avsd) with full open and closed heart surgery at the age of 2. I am just looking forward to when they say that my baby is happy and healthy and I will look forward to seeing the baby more often. Can I asked how did u find the birth? That's one thing that worries me xx

I was induced due to reduced movements at 41weeks. I was put on the drip at 5pm and had him via forceps delivery at 4am next morning. Was a little traumatic but that's only due to being induced. I had to be constantly monitor and baby during and a paediatric doctor present soon as he was born. But all in all it was a good Labour x

Wow ladies , lovely you have each other to support one another

My good friend found out a couple of years ago at 37 that she had a huge whole in the heart , apparently so big it was just 3 chambers - found by having a stroke at the xmas. She had the open heart surgery in feb and was preg by the may!! She had already had 4 kids prior to this and managed just fine with close monitoring xx
