~*NEW*~ 37weeks + Labour signs, advise and hugs thread

Have you tried bouncing on a birthing ball?? Or sex?? Sex is def supposed to be the best way to get things moving. They say castor oil too, but not sure if I would want to try that, it'll give you the runs.

I was in the bath for an hour last night & spent most of the time tweaking my nipples. The only thing it did was make them sore. But I only think those things work when you're body is just about ready.

Good luck!

raquel - I hope the sweep works for you!!

dtaylor - I think being upright is the best suggestion I can give combined with bouncing on a ball! Think that the most pressure you can get your LO's head on your cervix the better! hope things start up for you again
or just as emman said....Sex.... i got some on sat night and it was monday that I lost a blob of plug....coincidence!?!? maybe! lol!

ROM - fab news!!! just hope I get as good news at my appointment on friday!

mel - any more pains?

emman - cant believe we'll be next to pop after these ladies!!! scary!!

   to all the due date/overdue ladies...

not much here.... just the usual, tiny bit more plug I think and crampy feelings....nothing groundbreaking! Have the midwife on friday.... hope my urine is ok this time...had a trace of glucose last time! Having said that I've just come back from the shop with a bottle of Irn Bru! :rotfl: :rotfl: maybe I should engage my brain as well as the babies head!

ROM - I've just realised you're due after me...... form a queue!!!!!

is it true that being late/early runs in the family? my mum was induced with me at 39 weeks (so suppose that doesnt count!) but my brother was bang on due date....

We had sex last night for the first time in months!- Was abit weird cos the little man was awake and wriggling all the way thorough but today i feel more pressure and weight against my cervix than before. He feels like he's gonna drop out whenever i stand bit im not holding my breath for anything to happen soon..... :(

My midwife told me to have an evening where you just bombard your body with all the things that are meant to start off labour...
Go for a short walk, have a hot curry followed by as much pineapple as you can eat, have a long bath with blue radox - the one that contains clary sage oil and then some sex and or maybe some ball bouncing!!!!

tallulah - that sounds like an action packed day!!! :D :D

I tried the curry and pinapple on sunday..... unfortunately instead of clearing me out made me a bit constipated! :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall:

whats the clary sage oil thing?

well my OH has already offered his serves whenever i need them so looks like i'll have to take him up on his offer tonight in the mean time i'm gonna clean up around the house hopefully being stood up and moving will do the trick. yeah i have that radox i'll use that tonight as well

the one thing i didn't fancy is the castor oil it'll make me be sick more than anything and not sure i wanna feel awful as well as going into labour.

i think it was being stood up last night that got it going

It's meant to induce labour, i think it's better if you have the pure clary sage essential oil - i know they say not to use that in early pregnancy as it can cause a misscarage.
...im not sure the blue radox has enough clary sage in it to work but i bath in it all the time just on the off chance.

no lisa, even with all the walking this baby isnt budging

oh well, worth a shot! cant beat a nice bubbly bath!! :D

mel - i know what you mean - with all my walking, my baby hasnt even engaged :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall:

I like your MWs thinking, I might try this soon. Not desperate enough yet (hate spicy food & pineapple makes my heartburn worse) but give it another week. I did try tweaking my nipples but nothing happened :(

I really hope not, my mum had 2 be induced with me as she was 2 weeks overdue & she was 1 week late with my brother.

I'm off for a walk now, have the MW tomorrow & want him to have moved a bit lower. I'm ssooo lazy, my DH almost fell over when I told him I wanted to go for a walk :rotfl: :rotfl:

Hi girlies just lurking from tri 1 waiting for one of u to go into labour.

Castor oil has always worked for me,its not nice but it does work.Fresh orange in a glass and a couple of spoons of oil.Stand over the sink and next to the toilet :D .As i said it works but don't take too much.
I was once told that pineapple works ,but you don't eat it (if you now what i mean  )

well ive had scan today for growth all ok with baby + had some monitoring blood pressure was up slightly but ok.

Tonight ive got home and pains have started been having mild pains since 8.30pm i took parcetmol at 9pm which would normally get rid of them but im still getting them.

They are very iregular and not pain full. not sure if body playing tricks on me or not? :wall:

Oooh mum2be hope u continued 2b in pain last nite  and there will b a baby soon
I had the runs lst nite  My back was in AGONY constantly, then started 2 get a few pains were very irregular OH decided 2 time them but as soon as I told him n we started timing they stopped :wall:
Hope every1 is well 2day

morning all ....

in a sh**ty mood as OH and I decided to argue this morning about date/year for wedding :wall: :wall: :wall: give up!

anyway, since we are all near/over due dates I just wondered what your OH's are doing? Are they close by? phone switched on loud just in case? Now i know labour is a looooong process but I feel my OH doesnt get it! He's still off playing football at lunchtime when at work, in the evenings on monday, thurdays and fridays plus working late so not home till 8/9pm and still playing a match on saturdays so out the house from about 12-5 - said he was going to give his phone to his manager when on pitch, but he's not  he just checks it at half time......

ok maybe i'm being selfish, and its unlikely i would be ringing him at that exact point he puts his phone down and runs on to the pitch.... but if you add up the max time from when I ring him to when he could get back and get to hosp. it would be over 2hours...vast majority of this spent by myself waiting for him to get back.

sorry, i'm panicking.... but I swear if this is a girl, she WILL come during a footy match!

anyway, I hope that everyone is well......   to those overdue

Morning. Still no signs

Well i can't fault my OH. He works mon - fri 9-5 but has his phone on just in case. he comes straight home every night and stays by my side, cooks the tea and generally just looks after me. helps me when ever i need him. he cleans up stuff i either can't do or involves lifting and then he always asks if i'm ok and makes sure i have everything i need drinks food etc he's such a sweet heart he'll rub my back without me even asking just if i look like its hurting me. then when we go to bed just before he goes to sleep he says 'just wake me if you need anything during the night'

what more could i ask for i feel so lucky having him

I'm quite lucky too in as much as my husband works from home most of the time - he does have to go to Kent once a week and in the evenings and at weekends tends to have to deliver to places like London which worries me ...... we had a row about it last week but as he pointed out he cannot just sit here waiting for me to pop and as I am not working now much he is bringing in all the money.... I do worry though that particularly if he is in Kent it could take him 4 - 5 hours to get home. As he owns the company and there is just 2 of them there is not much I can do - I cant really see him taking much time off after either which I am annoyed about, just because he is about in the day doesnt mean I dont want him there at night for the first couple of weeks....... Luckily my 21 year old daughter gets back from her job abroad next Wednesday and I know she is really excited to help.....

Our biggest issue to be honest is that Dave likes a glass of wine at night.... He will have half a bottle through the evening and it worries me how we will get to the hospital if I need to go in the evening... He says he's making the most of it as he wont want to have a drink around the baby but I really dont fancy driving myself up to the labour ward!!!

thats a good point i have my journey planned as my OH doesn't drive and i do but won't want to drive myself so my mum and dad who live literally round the corner are on stand by the come get me day or night and take me but i'm lucky anyway cos the hospital is round the other corner less than a 2 minute drive i could probably walk but i won't ha ha.

my OH is self employed too so won't be able to take much time off as his income is too important to lose which i really hate cos its not just the fact i want him here helping i also feel he's gonna miss out on his son's first few days and i know he's gonna regret that and he wants to be here but can't be. can't think of a way around it.

Its so hard when they are self employed - I am too and so I am still doing a bit of work at the moment - if I dont I feel really guilty...... It does have its advantages though so I try not to moan.... :rotfl: Dave would disagree on that one....

My OH is self employed, he has a recording studio about 25mins drive away! He works very strange hours 5pm till 5am
( Don't ask! - it's a weird musician thing! ) The studio is above a gym so he does all the producing of songs during the night when it's quiet.

I was a little mad at him this morning cos he knows i could go into labour at any time but he stayed at the studio with his brother recording vocals till 8am this morning then said when he got home "you better not have him today cos i need to catch up on my sleep"

....He's gona be no use to me knackard, i though he might change his hours round a little this week but he won't compromise!!!
