I need to pick up our family fix base from Boots. It can wait until someone is with me, but if it's not heavy I thought I'd just go and get it today.

Anyone know?

Thanks

xx

It's not dead weight heavy, my OH wouldn't let me lift it at first but he goes over the top about everything. Have u got far to carry it? X

Just to the car. That sounds ok :) Thanks hun xx

Is it the maxi cosi? If so the annoying thing is that the box is awkward rather than heavy so don't carry with other things as well x

Yeah just the isofix base chick. xxx

Iv got 2 maxi cosi cabriofix car seats for the twins what's the family base? Havnt thought of that I will get if I need! X

The familyfix can be used for longer hun, I can't remember up to what age but it's the reason I chose it - babybrain! X

so i should get 2 family bases? boots sell them, how much are they? just trying to get everything oi need befoe they come as il have little time to think! xx

Hey hun,

I got mine from Boots for £119 I think with a discount. There is a voucher code atm - VCUKDEC15 - gets you £15 off. MrsCW passed it on to me. Mucho handy!!

Family fix means you can use the next car seat on it - I think it's after 9 months, but might be wrong. The next seat after the one we have now, takes them to 3.5 I think! I've got cabrio too.

Lovely than so its £115 for the family
Base? Got the car seats already! Nightmare when buying for 2! X

I can imagine hun! Think family fix sounds worth it as if you're using a base you're gonna need a new seat when they're older anyway and at least you're saving on a new base eventually :) x

What's the benefits of a base? Car seats really confuse me :-/ x

A base means that you can just fix the base into the car using either isofix points or the seatbelt.

Then each time you use the car seat it just basically 'clicks' onto the base without having the faff of using the seatbelt to belt the car seat in

Not proven to be any more safe just takes the hassle out of belting the seat in each time as the base stays in the car

Hope that helps sue xx

Hi Sue,

I had the same debate. We've basically got it for ease. No faffing about with a seat belt if it's peeing down with rain etc. I made a thread a while back. Will see if I can find it.

xx

Thanks ladies
Interesting thread olive very mixed reviews. I think I'll look at the bases first.
Now need to look at which one grrrrr I hate safety decisions like this, IRS not just about if it looks nice :-/ xx
