Hi, I'm hoping some of you ladies might be able to help with this. I've been given 3 packs of newborn nappies which I think were bought around 4 years ago - they're Aldi nappies and still unopened in the pack. Do you think these will be ok to use on my newborn? I wouldn't normally bother using them but they were bought by my sister (originally for another baby in the family we think) and sadly my sister passed away unexpectedly in March. Obviously it is still raw and it would mean a lot to have her involved in some small way so I would love to have my baby wear one of these nappies when it's first born but not if it would harm baby's sensitive skin. I can't see an expiry date on them so what do you think? She had started knitting a blanket for my baby but didn't get chance to finish it so this is the only way she can be involved xx

Gosh hun. Really sorry to hear about your sister. What sad news.

I don't know about the nappies but would it be possible to frame the blanket she had started to knit?

The nappies aren't the only way she'll be involved as you have your whole life time of memories of her to pass on to your baby.

Big hugs to you

X

So sorry to hear about your sister. I think the nappies may stop being so absorbent, you could try them and see though. Carnat's is a great idea with the blanket though. And if the nappies were no good you could perhaps keep 1 in baby's keepsake box? Might sound strange but I've kept all sorts of things!! X

Thanks both of you for your ideas. I know she will definitely be a part of my baby's life, I just like the idea of my baby wearing something bought by her when it's first born. If it's a girl we've decided to use my sister's name as our baby's middle name.

Thanks for the suggestion about framing the blanket, it's a nice idea but I think I might get it finished and then baby can use it. I hadn't thought of a keepsake box either so thanks for that suggestion :) xx

Send the batch number of the nappy to manufacturer and ask

Sorry to hear about your loss xx

So sorry for your loss hun. I'd agree with emailing and asking them but I'm sure they would be fine. Don't think if have someone else finish the blanket I think I'd leave it as it was. All her work sort of thing and just use it as a comforter. I don't know if you have any of your sisters clothes but if you have maybe a keepsake teddy or if there's material you like a good seamstress could make baby an outfit from them. Then baby could wear something that was a part of your sister. Massive hug to you xxx
