My CD21 results, don't know what they mean?

Jen, OPKs don't mean you definitely OV, they detect the hormone LH that surges to try and release an egg.

xx

So, they could be well & truly useless then...bummer!
Is nothing a certainty in this TTC lark?
Hope you get it sorted soon Maybe

hello hunny! just seen this and its the first thread i came into as i wanted to knwo your results! yes you had exactly the same as me 29nmol/L i panicked and googled this for ages and it was really hard to get a definitive answer.

the receptionist at the GP's told me mine were OK but i asked her to print it off so i could take a look and i ended up worried for a few weeks but..good news!! i booked an appointment with my GP (one who specialises in fertility) and took my results along this is what they say:

Serum Progesterone 29nmol/L

Follicular phase <3 nmol/L Lueteal phase 10-80 nmol/L

the very important part here is the second line as the 10-80 nmol/L is telling you where you should be within to show that you have ovulated. my GP said that at 29 it's fine, nothing to worry about. i think they can't 100% actually guarantee that you have ovulated but using this bracet of 10-80, 29 is good!! so try not to worry, its amazing how hard it is to go online and interpret these results!!

hope that puts your mind at rest as it did me. i found the part about 30 too online but she assured me that 29 is fine!? we had a good chat about my fertility and she told me to go back in the new year if i haven't conceived, i really believe that if that level was low she would have told me. she said not to worry (doctors favourite line!). maybe you should book an appointment too?

Thank you Hun,

That's really helped,

They called me last night and said that I probably did but they can't be sure so I'll have another next cycle to compare, I'll let you know how it goes.

xx

Just that it was borderline, they're not that nice to me really, they we're like have smear and we'll talk, they're funny with me because I cancelled a smear apt as it fell in my 2WW.

I'm taking it that I did OV but I'll have the test again because low progesterone can make implantation difficult.

If you it is a problem you use progesterone cream, sometimes along with clomid.

xx

OK, i mean i gathered that 29 wasn't high but i'm going to have to take their word for it that it was OK, they didn't offer me another one as a comparator..hmmm....!? xx

Take it as ok Hun, but no harm in getting another to put your mind at rest xx

hi maybe baby

ive been through all the day 21 blood tests etc...
it has to be 30 and above to show you have ovulated.
i had the tests over a period of 4 months.
my trouble was it was too high!!!....

Thanks Deborah,

Trust me to get 29!

How annoying!

How are you getting on now did you have any treatment?

louise...i dont understand your table?? what does 29 mean then?? xxx

Ok, ignore the last four columns.

Then you have to consider your own circumstances - your own cycle length and when you own test was taken in relation to when you got your LH surge.

Then you apply it to the table.

What was the cycle length when you had your test? What cd did you have your LH surge that cycle? What cd was your test taken?

OK i'm being really dumb now - i've tried to work it out but its not happening, sadly i'm not the brightest spark as i'm sure you can tell lol!:help:

can you help me please louise???:kiss::kiss:

it was a 30 day cycle

i had my surge on cd 14

and i tested on cd22

sorry for being a pain:dohh::thanks::thanks::thanks::thanks::thanks::thanks:

You're not being dumb Positivity :)

I don't even know how good the chart is as i'm not even sure it tallies up to what the other girls say about >30 being good and anything less being crap.

Hmm.

So you had your test 8 days after LH = mid luteal.

You have a 30 day cycle so your range should be about 20-25 when you tested.

So according to the chart you'd be above expected level of progesterone... but that would imply that you ovualted anyway - too much better than too little :)

Hmm, i'm starting to wish i hadn't posted the chart, but to be perfectly honest i'm a bit horrifed that a few of you ladies seem to have gone for tests and not only do you not seem sure about what the results mean but nothing seems to have been done to reassure you about your reproductive health.

I won't speak to my GP until the 8th so i won't be able to ask in person until then.

I'd be tempted to go on AskAnExpert.com because i've used it before when i was asking about my husbands semen results and they were very helpful :)

thank you soooo much!! my doctor seemed to assure me that it was all fine but now im not so sure. i think i'm going to have to trust her!! thanks for explaining the chart to me, i really really appreciate it. i'm back and forward to the gps all the time so maybe i'll have another chat with her.

i'll try that website too :)

you really are a star on here!! xxx

From the 4 months i spent back and forth from the doctors and hospital...

you have a blood test around day 7-8 this will show a low reading as its before ovulating...
day 11-12 I had a scan to see how may focoiles are ready to pop out of your ovaries
ovaulation from day 14 to 17
day 21 blood test if higher than 30 this is a sign your levels have risen showing a sign you have ovulated.....
sadly mine for too high... in the 100s!! so i ovaulated every time but had to high levels to fall.

Well, i'll show you the table that i got.

I'm ok I think then Lou?

on a 37 day cycle? when I had the test I should be between 24-29.

Thanks for your help!
