My beautiful little Poppy flower

Took Poppy to see the health visitor today. She wanted to see her again at 10 weeks, as at her 6 week check she wasn't satisfied with her neck muscles (she had slight head lag) and I was nervous because I couldn't tell if she'd improved or not, but she has! HV was more than happy with her progress. Oh, and she now weighs 12lb 8oz which is just over the 50th percentile.

She's clearly trying to grab at her toys now, and she'll hold onto her squishy rattle and stare at it for a while before letting go. She seems to be napping more frequently this past week so I'm guessing maybe another growth spurt?

I've been taking her for plenty of walks and also bought us a baby carrier, which she LOVES being in because she's such a nosy little parker ;) So I put her in it facing outwards and she loves watching what's going on (even when i'm doing housework!)

I think that's about all for now. So here's a photo of my beauty :)

Ah poppy is gorgeous and I love your journal :) it'll be so lovely to look back on in a few years xx

Just got back from visiting my Mum who babysat Poppy for us on Saturday night whilst we went to a halloween party and she was an angel as always. She just smiles constantly now, it is very sweet. I'm always greeted with big smiles first thing in the morning, and when she goes down in her cot last thing at night, I get the same thing, it still melts my heart every time.

I've been sitting watching her this evening in her little chair, we have a Freddie the Firefly toy (http://www.mothercare.com/dp/B003WKRZIA?ref=sr_11_1) hanging on her arch and she has been really concentrating on it, and batting it with her hand (I noticed it was her left hand - I wonder if she will be left handed?) until eventually she grabbed hold of it (still intense concentration on her little face) and kept hold of it for a while before letting go and batting at it again. It's so lovely to see her learning all the time.

She LOVED sensory world last week, they had pools of spaghetti and jelly and I held her in both, she seemed to love the sensation and spread her little toes out like a monkey to feel the jelly between her toes :) Was lovely to meet some other mummies, too. We also had her feet painted to make a footprint picture, which the sensory world leader is laminating for us and giving to us next week.

She is awake for most of the day now, having the odd little cat nap, and still sleeping through from about 9.30pm(ish) until 7/8am.

I really can't believe she's almost three months old. I'm still loving absolutely every second of being a Mummy, and am so proud to have such a beautiful and very well behaved baby daughter

Poppy has hold of the little plastic ladybird teether on her hanging firefly, and is putting it in her mouth! She's done it a few times now, will grab hold of it and bring it up to her mouth :yay:

I love that she's becoming more and more of a little person and all these milestones are happening. So proud!

Oh, and I think I forgot to mention, we had our first laugh last Monday (24th October) :)

Hehe I saw it and couldn't resist, and yes, can't wait for the christmas outfits!

Well I've ordered Poppy a tummy time mat, because I'm getting a bit worried over how flat her head is getting at the back. She hates tummy time!
When she naps during the day I've started to lay her on some blankets on the floor on her front, instead of leaving her in her chair or cot on her back to help with it, too. I can keep an eye on her on the floor and make sure she doesn't cover her face.

This is what we ordered: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Coast-Tummy-Beetle-Activity-Centre/dp/B0015CA3EK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1320240124&sr=8-2 - I'm hoping this will help as it has the cushion and mirror to encourage her.

Well, she's off out with her nana for the afternoon soon and OH will pick her up on his way home from work. I never know what to do with myself when she's out with nana and so keep myself busy to stop myself yearning for her quite so much! I've got a tonne of housework to do though so that'll keep me busy.

She is currently on her activity mat alternating between bashing at her toys and stuffing her hands into her mouth. Having to keep a bib on her constantly because of all the dribbling!

I feel terrible.

I was just putting Poppy in her baby carrier so I could carry her around with me whilst I pottered about, and she has a t-shirt on. When I was clipping the baby carrier together, I accidentally caught the skin of her arm in the clip :( She absolutely screamed the house down, making me cry too because I felt so bad
I straight away gave her a massive cuddle and kept saying "Sorry, sorry!" and sang a song to try and soothe her. She was eventually soothed by her bottle after about 5 minutes of wailing :(

Oh my god, I feel SO terrible

:hugs: It's horrible isn't it when you accidentally upset them! Don't worry she'll have forgotten all about it by now. Love that tummy time mat by the way x

Yes :( I think she's forgiven me - plenty of smiles today :) x

Well, the tummy time mat is a success - she loves it!

Just took Poppy food shopping in her baby carrier. It was so much easier and she loved being able to look around as we were shopping :) I put her in it facing outwards so she can have a little nosey at everything.

We've had a little bit of blood from her mouth AGAIN today. She just chows down on her hands so much and she either scratches her gums or just makes them bleed with the pure force of her jaw chomping! Little monkey. She never takes a dummy now, we've tried and she just won't have it. Spits it out straight away, hands straight back into her mouth. She often makes herself gag with how far she shoves her fists into her mouth! She won't learn!

We've found ourselves calling her 'Willow' (her middle name) more than we actually call her Poppy now. I have a habit of saying "Come on then little Willow". Maybe she'll grow up being known as Willow over Poppy, who knows!

For the past week or so, Poppy has been taking less milk each feed. She had been on 6oz bottles, but she's only been taking between 4-5oz each time. She also seems to be going a bit longer between feeds - she'll go four hours without one whereas before she would never go longer than three. She has her last bottle in the evening around 8pm, goes to bed and then that will be it until 7.30ish the next morning, and even then, she'll be laying awake in her cot looking at her mobile and babbling to herself, she doesn't tend to cry for her morning feed.

Her nappies seem a little snug now, so I think once we've finished this pack of size 2's we'll start to buy the size 3. We only buy Pampers because the Huggies seem to leak a lot more, though I've been told the supermarket own brand ones are great so perhaps we'll give them a go.

ive just had to buy charlie size 3's to, as he has really chubby legs :) i have used tesco brand of nappies before and they have been fine, just buy a small pack and give them a try then if you dont like them you havent wasted much money!

Well Poppy has been napping for the past two hours! It is really unlike her. She usually only has little cat naps in the day. I hope she's not coming down with something :( Mind you, she did wake up in the night last night for the first time in absolutely ages, but I suspect it is because we didn't have her in her sleeping bag like we usually do, as they were both in the wash. When she's not in her sleeping bag she can move around a lot more and ends up in really weird positions in her cot. I woke to her whinging at around 4am, got up to find her laying horizontally across her cot with her legs out of the slats. No wonder she was whinging - it looked really uncomfortable! I moved her back and she went straight off to sleep again but I'll be making sure she's in her sleeping bag tonight so she can't wriggle her way across the cot!

Right, Poppy seems to have stopped with the cat naps and got herself into a little daytime napping routine.
Our daily routine goes like this: She wakes up every day at 8.00am now, so we'll get up, have a feed and a play for a little while, and she'll fall asleep at 9.30 pretty much on the dot for the past few days. She'll sleep for about an hour/hour and a half then she'll wake, have another bottle, more playtime with me and some tummy time. She'll be awake until about 4.30 when she'll nap again for about another hour (after another bottle), and usually wakes again when her daddy comes home from work. Daddy then will usually give her a feed and cuddles whilst I sort out the dinner. We pop her in her Bumbo seat on the dining table with us so she can sit with us whilst we eat, and start getting her used to seeing us eat etc. More cuddles and playtime with Daddy, then a bath (every second day) then bedtime is between 8.00 and 9.00pm (depending on her - if she seems sleepy we put her up earlier). We pop her in her cot, kisses goodnight, I sing her a song, switch on monitor and mobile and we come downstairs. She will settle herself off to sleep within about 15mins and happily lays there watching her mobile during that time.

I'm starting to get super excited about christmas - I don't know about anybody else but I'm extra excited this year because of Poppy. I know she's not really aware of what's going on, but it seems that little bit more magical with a child! Me and Luke (OH) will get up with her on christmas morning and open our presents to each other, and sit with P and open her presents for her, I'll make us a nice breakfast with some Bucks Fizz, then around 11.00am we'll head to the in-laws where we'll spend the day and have christmas dinner. On boxing day we're travelling down to my mum's to stay there for the week until new year. Luke gets the week after christmas off work every year, which is lovely.
I went christmas shopping yesterday but ended up coming home with no presents but a new coat for myself  - but I have bought a few things online and still have plenty of time to shop, and I did NEED a new coat! ;)

*EDIT* I thought I'd add, Poppy's hair definitely seems to be going blonde. Both me and Luke were blonde children so I did thought she would be. When she was born her hair was really dark brown but it's lightened up so much.

Sitting with us at the dinner table :)
