Moving to a "big boy" bed. Toddler bed or proper single?

Thanks ladies, I think I am almost decided?

Gonna go for a toddler bed - they are about 20cm longer than his cot-bed? I can't see him growing 20cm in 18 months?

Then when Bee is ready to go into a bed we'll get bunk beds but we'll have a toddler bed if she needs a bit of transitioning.

Now I need to find a dark wood toddler bed

funnily enough we are ordering Harry (2yrs 3mths) a single bed tonight. He's been in his cotbed without the side for around 5 months now and was fine until about 2 months ago when he started waking in the night. We have a caravan and he sleeps in a single bed there and sleeps right through with no problems. As soon as we're back at home he wakes at least twice a night?! So we're hoping that it's because he has less space and prefers the softer mattress of the caravan bed.

Hence bed shopping tonight. We need sleep! lol

We went from Cot to toddlers bed just before xmas but when staying at his grans he has a single bed and has always been fine.

I still have his toddler bed but now that we have moved he will be getting a single to match the bedroom.

I see that this is an old post, but if it were me Id go straight to single. Jacksons only been in his toddler bed a few months and now will be ready for single...

Nat we have just bought ollys from John Lewis, it's not black/brown dark but it's very close. We paid £69 for it, although it is the same size as a cot bed 140x70

Olly is a big lad and he looks tiny in it

We went for bunk beds in the end.

Touch wood all fine do far... James is of course in bottom bunk.

Looks nice that! Think you'll get most value out of bunk beds :)

I have been debating this too, as when we move this bub into her own room we will need to move our toddler out! I was under the impression that toddler beds are the same size as cot beds & singles are around 20cm wider & 50cm longer. I figure that's not a great amount & would rather not have to buy again within a short space of time...

However, DD1 will only be just turned 2 when DD2 turns 6 months... Do you think this is too young for a single? I am umming and aahing over it x

We only bought a toddler bed glitter because we have them sharing a room and i wouldn't be able to fit a single in the room with everything else, toddler bed fits perfect where his cot was and iv moved the cot over to the other side of the room for baby and got rid of the wardrobes. We have moved his mattress over from his cot and bought the baby a new mattress. We are hoping to move in the next year hopefully and they will have their own rooms so we will see how he is getting on and if needs be buy him a single. He is a big boy and looks tiny in the toddler bed

Xx

Ah I see, that makes sense. Yeah, my girl is petite so I think she will be lost in a single! Decisions, decisions! X

Do a pros and cons list, I personally see it as a waste of money and time - and I had a toddler bed for Jackson...
