finally feel I can write this after a very traumatic time!
So xmas day (due date) came and went and I had had several niggles labor was starting but nothing. I had so far had 2 sweeps, the second sweep made me loose my plug and I got a huge bloody show. for the next week or so I pretty much tried it all but nothing was hapening at all!! so frustrating .
to cut a long story short, I went for a third and final sweep at 41+2 (thurday) , the midwife still could only just get a fingertip in and my cervix was still posterior and was told that my induction was probably the only chance I had now
well the next morning me and OH DTD which we hadn't for ages! then I went around asda in agony! but really wanted to beat induction. that night at around 6pm my waters gushed! I was so bloody happy! I went to hospital and they said to go home and wait it out and induction would still go ahead on the sunday if nothing had happened. Well as soon as I was home contractions started about every 15- 20 mins, they where like really bad period pains but a bit sharper.
I sat up all night watching tv with them now coming every 10 mins and getting painful. I wasn't getting any contractions in my bump at all! It was all in my back and thighs, I never thought my legs could hurt so much.
the whole of Friday night, Saturday and saturday night I was contracting and they were really painful. I called the hospital a number of times but they said they were not near enough and I would just get sent home, they were so painful but little did I know how much worse it was about to get!
Sunday came and still contracting but It had slowed down and I was getting 2 or 3 an hour now. I went into hospital and got taken to labour ward and put on a drip at around 3 pm. Contractions started again quick and fast and I was having 4 in 10 mins. I thought I was getting painful contractions at home but because of the drip these were very intense very quickly. Apparently my body took to the drip quickly and I was having such powerful contractions in my back and legs I was on the floor with every one screaming in pain! my OH was trying to massage my legs at the same time but It wasn't helping.
the midwife gave me gas and air and after a few puffs I threw it across the room, I hated it and felt it was going to make me feel out of control, this also ruled our diamorphine for me. after 2 hours of contracting on the drip (starting at 2cm) I was examined and was 5 cm, I screamed that I wanted a EPI and they cam in and gave it to me within 10 mins.
I LOVE EPIDURAL'S!!!! My god It was the most amazing moment of my life getting that.
so from 6 pm I was contracting away with my epidural. by 2 am I was 9cm dilated and was told I could gently start pushing when I felt a contraction. The Epi had worn off enough by then that I could feel them mildly. I pushed with every one and the mid wife said at 3 am she would get me to do some proper pushes.
3 am came and I could really feel the need to push. My GOD! I thought contraction were bad...... I was under the impression that pushing was the best bit as it was a relief! well not for me, with every push I felt like I was splitting in two, I pushed and pushed for 2 hours and was so tired as I hadn't slept since the thursday and it was now monday morning.
I had 3 doctors and 4 midwives in the room and they made the decision that my contractions had started to slow down and weren't powerful enough to get her out. They said that I was going to have to have forceps.
I was so petrified! they put on the forceps and made a huge cut
it felt like she was hacking at me and when I said that she told me the scissors were blunt! OH GREAT!
after about another 5 mins of pushing Mila popped out very blue and they hit a button to call the Paediatrician but as he came in she started crying. they placed her on my chest and I instantly started being sick! I think it was the shock of it all .
I noticed more and more people started coming in the room and getting called, I asked what was going on and was told I was loosing a lot of blood and they couldn't see where it was coming from. I had 3 hands up me at one point trying to stop it and I was so tired that my womb wasn't contracting back so I had 2 midwives pushing down on my bump tiring to get it going. I fell like I was in one of the SAW films. it was the most horrendous experience of my life and I rally won't be doing it again!
I have skipped a few things because i'm still finding it hard to talk about or even write. I can't help but think that if my body had just done it naturally it wouldn't have been as bad.
I fond the first couple of days quite hard bonding with Mila because of what had happened. I'm starting to feel human again 6 days later and love her more then anything
My OH said we are never doing it again. I think I now am 'too posh to push' after that!
here is my little munchkin xxxx
