Me and hubby dear decided right away that if we're having a girl, she'll have Karen as a middle name as it is my mam's name, and she is very ill and long story short, will be lucky to meet baby, let alone see any birthdays. My nana (mam's mam) has also said to me without us mentioning it that she thinks it would be really nice and mean a lot if we gave baby Karen as a middle name.
The only fly in the ointment, as it were, is that when I told my mam this, she really doesn't want the baby to have Karen as a middle name, she says it's a crap name, and she has suggested another that she really likes.
So assuming it is a girl, we want Lily Karen Candlish, but she wants Lily Rose Candlish. I don't know whether it's more appropriate to give the baby the name we want, honouring her, so baby will always have her name etc, or to give the baby the name she has suggested and loves, thus following her wishes.
Any ideas or thoughts?
