I got myself into debt and have tried to keep it from oh, I ended up taking out "payday loans" which have made my life a nightmare, I have been terrifed every day!
So oh now knows and we borrowed 2 grand off my sis today to pay off one card! I feel like a complete failure and I have to figure out how to get us out of this we currently owe about 15k :-(

 I'm so glad he knows and youre not dealing with it on your own any more. There are lots of services that can give you free advice on the best way to deal with paying off debts - http://www.cccs.co.uk/ is one of them - they should be able to help if you do need it. You're not a failure at all though, and it might be hard for a while but you'll find a way to get out of it

Big hugs x my OH tried to hide the amount of his debt (that his ex ran up in his name) from me but eventually I just sat him down and told him to tell all! We went to citizens advice who were absolutely wonderful! I would recommend you go to them. You're not a failure! It's far too easy to get into debt and seriously difficult to get out again! Big hugs x

Totally agree^^ you will sort it hon, especially working on it together x x x

Oh MrsMc, you've been under a lot of stress...

I can understand your hubby being a bit upset about you keeping something that effects you both from him, but all you can do is show him that you have learned from your mistakes and will do everything to make it right again :)

My parents were always plagued with debt and really makes it hard to enjoy anything because it's always in the back of your mind. My parents have both worked 50hours + per week all their lives and are only just seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

There is a lot of help out there nowadays though, so just make sure you take advantage of it and it'll all be fine :)

Thanks everyone! OH has been so good! He is now officially in charge of our finances and he said that I am a idiot but we will put it right although it may take a while! He also said when I was upset once again that it was yesterday it happen yesterday and we are putting it right so I don't need to be upset anymore! I can't believe I have been such an idiot! But I guess I've learnt my lesson for sure!

payplan are another company who help, iv used them in the past and there really really good,

good luck hun, dont worry about things and at least ur not keepin it from ur OH now,

xxxx

Your OH sounds so lovely...I'm sure between you you'll soon sort things out

I hate debt! It really does eat at you. I'm struggling to pay my credit card and overdraft, but I'm slowly getting there. Just hate how interest absolutely eats everything you're paying, such a pain!! You'll get there, I've not seeker advice but may just do so if it gets really bad, you'll sort it, it's just gonna take a little while I think, a lot of people are in the same boat so don't panic, it's just a real dampner. X

I've managed to get all interest and charges halted on my cards, I wrote to them with a budget plan that explains how little I can afford to pay them each month and keep reminding them that I'm going to get a Debt Relief Order as I have less that £15k debt so they just have to put up with getting what they can out of me before I get the debts wiped! ha ha!

CCCS have been helpful with all of this, though I've had to do more of it all myself than I thought I would.

It will be gone!

Lxx

I spoke to payplan today! Goodness a weight lifted or what! Thanks for all the advice

i think the first step is facing up to it which youve done so things are going to get better from now on  if youre not going to use a debt management company the best thing you can do is work out which of your debt has the highest interest rateand try and see if you can balance transfer that to the one with the lowest rate. once youve shifted things around like that as much as possible make sure you pay the minimum amount on all the debts apart from the highest interst rate which you need to pay as much as you can every month. eliminate the debts one by one, in order of highest interest rates. thats how i got myself out of debt.
