****** May 2015 Mummies to be *******

Hello and welcome, babylibbey!

Button, that's so lovely! Free stuff!!!!

Ok. My MW didn't mention anything about a GTT test, but my maternity "itinerary" says there is a blood test at 28 weeks.

Also, ladies with anterior placentas... At the scan, I was told I have one of those, and that it was low. The sonographer didn't mention that I may need another scan later on. She just said the placenta will "move" up. I will ask the MW on Thursday about this, as I've read elsewhere about additional scans if you have an anterior placenta. Anyone know?

Hi bigbee, my placenta is partially covering my cervix so the scan at 36wks is to check it's moved up. If it hasn't then more likely to need c section but my ob said 90% move in time. Also more likely to get bleeding and have to go straight in if I have any.

Yeah I think the hormones are just getting to me a little bit today. Looking forward to when my lo goes to bed, having a nice relaxing bath and watching broadchurch at 9pm the little things are getting me through today! Almost there. Meeting my friend tomorrow so that's cheered me up a bit and can havea good gossip without interuption from lo! I actually quite like lucozade.. my mum has diabetes that's why I've got to have it, had it last time as well. It wasn't lucozade at my last test it was this thick orange liquid. Will geta bottle of water to try and get me through the morning. Mines also at 9am. Might have my tea slightly later so it keeps me fuller for longer or a bedtime snack just before 9 the day before. Welcome babylibbey! A holiday sounds really nice although we've not planned one. Might have to treat myself to a day out with the family around my son's birthday and it could double for that instead of him having a party this year. Xxx

Aww caseysmummy11 I'm with you there on the little things that get you through the day :-) my oh is a lorry driver and not home tnyt so I'm making the most of having the bed to myself, early night and starfish... Well whale fish haha!
Aw you should definitely treat yourself to a day out or a 'you' day. I enjoy my pamper nights, makes me feel better x

Thank you babylibbey.... The sonographer didn't say anything, but I'll ask the MW just in case.

Bigbee - the blood test at 28 weeks is to check iron levels I think. You need to fast for a GTT so it's a separate appointment if you have it

Ahhhh, I get it... Thank you! So much stuff to worry about...

Yeah I think when my little boy is at nursery Thursday im going to have a me day for definite. Think its a break I need as he's quite full on at time and after he stopped at my mums on Friday night. He came back home hyped on sugar and witha foul attitude so it's taken him a few days to get back to himself and into routine. Since he's gone to bed I've relaxed, but it's safe to say it's been a very challenging 3 days. I hope to god tomorrow is easier. Xxx

Got freckle's Moses basket today. Love it!! Just need my baby boy to go in it

Sorry to change the subject ladies. 23 weeks in and I'm so fed up of being constipated and having a sore bum. I seem to live in a self perpetuating circle of movicol, sore tummy, trapped wind, bloating, constipation, sore bum and germaloid!!I have pretty much constant acid so live on gaviscon which doesn't help the constipation and movicol is rancid. I feel very fed up today

Nat, what does your daily diet consist of? Do you eat a lot of fruit and veg? Fibre helps constipation.

I find that apples, pears, and especially apricots make me go.

Also, do you eat a lot of bread!? Try cutting that out if you do.

Let me just be clear, I'm not suggesting dieting here... But you may be intolerant to something.

I am a big advocate of correct nutrition. Example. I have PCOS. About two years ago I didn't have a period for about a year. Cut out dairy and wheat. Ta da!!! Period came back three weeks later, semi regular cycles.

Feeling a bit down today and feeling guilty! It's been a few weeks since we found out we are having a boy. This is my third and my husbands second son. Really wanted a pink bundle this time around and thought I was feeling better about things. However we saw a friend yesterday pushing his little 10 month old girl around and she was so cute and smiley it has set me off again.

I wanted this to be our last baby as although I am only just 36 I had my first son at 20 and there are no guarantees that next time it would be a girl. We also lost a baby at 8 weeks four years ago and it has got me thinking about whether that baby might have been a girl! Found myself looking at I other options today and last night on the internet such as gender selection treatment which I shouldn't especially as this baby hasn't even been born yet. Just feeling low and a bit alone in my thoughts :(

I do have IBS so I struggle anyway but pregnancy just exacerbates it with everything getting a bit sluggish.
I'm not a big fruit fan but I do try to have cereal in a morning like weetabix and a sarnie, cous cous or pasta for lunch something with salad or veg for tea. I'm finding fruit hard atm as it sets my acid off, particularly apples. Pineapple I love but it hates me right now xxx

Oh eve... Sorry to hear that you're feeling so rubbish. Can't really offer any advice as this is my first. :( ism sure you will love him just as much as if you were having a girl. Blame it on the hormones? :)

Nat, yeah IBS would flare up with pregnancy though. I've noticed I've gone gassier although my diet is pretty good. If I eat any wheat products, it does make me feel rubbish though....

Mention it to your mw? She might have some advice based on experience?

Missed a lot of posts this afternoon……..

Jessiecat that sounds so painful, hope it eases for you soon.

Caseysmummy hope you feel a bit happier soon, as others have said hormones have a lot to answer to.

I haven’t been told anything about GTT testing, BMI isn’t above 30 and don’t have diabetes, so I presume its not something I would need testing for?
Welcome babylibbey, I have a low laying anterior placenta, so having to have another scan late feb.

Buttonbear that’s nice of your friend, I’ve had bags of clothes (all in immaculate condition) from my sister. It’s lovely sorting through them isn’t it :-)

Bigbee – I was told I would need another scan to see if it had moved up as partially blocking my cervix at the mo, and as I am having one towards end of feb to check baby is growing on track (due to my vit D deficiency) they said they will check placenta at the same time, to save having two scans

Ahh lovely moses basket Larly

NatevZ I have found tinned prunes in juice has really helped with constipation. I suffer with IBS too and seem to either not be able to go, or go loads :-( prunes and orange juice definitely seems to be helping though .

I’ve been suffering with cramps all evening, hopefully just growing pains xx

Hope the cramps eased Blueeyes.

My OH felt baby move again last night and this morning I can actually see my tummy moving! Amazing!

It's minus five here this morning, not looking forward to the walk to school, brrrrr!

Hope everyone had an uneventful evening/night.

Just laying in bed feeling & watching my newest little addition move about & I can honestly say I'm still in awe of the whole situation. Think it's finally starting to sink in that it's happening again. So very lucky xx

For those suffering with constipation - try upping your soluble fibre. That doesn't mean fruit necessarily. It's found also in oats, lentils, beans, nuts/seeds, and some salad items like cucumber and celery. Of course the most well know source is apples.

Try a cereal made from oats, beans on wholegrain for lunch, and snacking on mixed nuts.

I've suffered with IBS for years and although my main symptom was going to the loo too much, keeping my diet as healthy as I can stand with lots of soluble fibre and whole grains has really helped. Luckily pregnancy seems to have helped my IBS settle for now.
